European Mapping for M Button

I have search quite a bit for an answer to this question but so far haven't found the answer.

Has anyone heard of or been able to verify if there is a European Mapping for our 1M M button and if so please share.

Thanks

The M button doesn't alter maps. It simply alters the wastegate.

No, there is no European M button mapping.

Sorry Neil, after reading my post I realized I posted this wrong. I meant to say MDM European mapping.

Well then, yes -- there is a euro MDM map.

I know 'cause I have it!

You may want to talk to Mike Benvo at bpmsport.com about it.

It most certainly does alter the throttle map.

It's still unclear how much it alters the waste gate control.

@Redadair Maybe you are referring to the MDM mode for the stability control(DSC). I know for the e9x M3's the euro cars(vs the US cars) have more "yaw" drift angle before the car's DTC(MDM) starts to bring the car into line. Perhaps this is what you were thinking about. ?

No, all 1M's have the same MDM mode as far as I know.

Yes, he can do it remotely (as he did my car) provided you have the proper cable.

I bought it from him ($$), but would be willing to lend it to you.

By holding the wastegates closed, the motor builds boost more quickly and throttle response is improved. It does not, however, change mapping.

The BMW M lap timer app on itunes Store for BMW Apps equipped vehicles will record throttle position for track events which will finally prove/disprove the throttle map argument for the M mode. Has anyone done this yet? I would if I could find a cheep I-phone/I pod.

I think there is a chance it won't. If the app only records position of the pedal as oppose to throttle opening, then no new conclusions can be really made.

By throttle map, I am assuming you mean percent pedal travel vs opening of the throttle body.

Understand your point; this app would be useless for a track day evaluation tool if it does not record actual #s instead of theoretical #s which has not been established yet as far as I have seen posted.
I believe I have seen a change in RPM while engaging the M mode sitting in the driveway and holding the throttle steady at about 2K RPM. When my I-Pod setup gets delivered next week, I will see if it can detect a change in the readings using it and post an update.

Mike Benvo is in LA and I'm in DC. He sent me some software and the cable and he then reprogrammed my car from 3,000 miles away.

I've only used it once on track -- when there was torrential rain -- and I found it to be far less intrusive than the normal setting. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again in very wet conditions or on a slippery and unfamiliar road course.
