Towing capacity

What do you think is the realistic safe towing capacity of our 1M?

The ram 3500 has 850ft-lbs And 30 000lbs towing cap we have 369 so around 12000lbs I guess. To be honnest with you I really don't think it is recommanded. That said I guess that if it just 1 time a year 1000lbs or less should hurt too much but still I would use another car than a 1m for that.

Buy a separate car for towing!! It would be like wearing a white tuxedo to do moto x racing!!! Don't do it

There is more to towing capacity than just torque...12,000 lbs for the 1M?

HAHA...the X5 is rated at 6000.

Did you realise that the first sentence was a joke? Because I did find the question very strange.

Etrailer who sells the Curt hitch says 2000 lbs for both the 128 & 135. Some euro web reviews of the 135 give the towing capacity as 1200 kg.

What do you plan on towing?

I've seen some guys tow a little trailer w track wheels and tools. Have thought about this but don't want to attach a hitch.

Anyone have better solutions for bringing wheels to the track?

Thinking of towing a spec Miata racer on lightest trailer.

Anyone ever toe a car with rear wheel drive on a dolly? Bad idea?

I see it everytime I head to south texas on US 59. Lots of cars heading to the border, sometimes two towed at a time.
