I have been watching the market for a while and all of a sudden we are getting a few cars under $60k. Not just the high milers as expected with around 100k kms, but now cars with around 30k kms. It is like wow that was quick!!

Even I was surprised to see that white low km 1M so cheap. Anyone on the forum snap it up? Great buy if nothing sinister under the skin.

Make sure he gets a full inspection and get a car history check done

Ask him why he sold it so cheap he could have easily asked for another 10k and got it with those kms

All checked and ok. Full BMW service history with no issues. I think it was priced according to Redbook.

If it all checks out, he stole it at that price

As 2011 1m are valued at 60k with 50k on the clock and he has half that so its worth at least another 10k

First I think sub $50k 1M on carsales. A price reduction high km's but one owner. Do you think prices are going to get lower or only the well used ones?

Really depends on the history of the car and how it was driven

High km means nothing because it could be all hey but be prepared to spend a small fortune on replacing stuff

Again depends how it was driven

it's a n54 though does it really matter how its driven?. stuff will break regardless of how its driven.

Lol no the n54 in stock form will last a long time when you do just the routine maintenance maybe the occasional fuel and water pump but at a 100k it will need a valve adjustment and for safety sake possibly a timing chain tensioner

Routine pulley bearings, belts and bushes are going to be changed around this time too

Lots of things are going to be needed in the near future like possible injectors so high km cars have their drawbacks too

High maintanence

Are these things you need to know by experience or things that the servicing dealer will know and advise?

I'm also curious about the valve adjustment, timing chain tensioner, bearings and belts requiring replacement at 100k?

Is this recommended? Not something I have heard about being carried out.

I have lots of experience on these cars and have broken enough parts and seen them break on mates cars

Enough too know that high km n54 are only good for one thing to turn into race cars as your rebuilding everything anyway or be prepared to spend loads of money

What I mean by bearings is

Wheel bearings

Pulley bearings on the engine belts

Not engine bearings

Valve adjustment is not mandatory but advisable

Seen engines break from poorly adjusted clearances
