4 month old 135i with 1qt of oil left?

4 month old 135i with 1qt of oil left.

Somehow I'm thinking this isn't normal.

Relevant facts:
- I do autocross with this car. Not all the time, but I've done about 4 events.
- I did my first full track day with the car last weekend. It performed wonderfully.
- I have not noticed any leaking under the car.
- The warning only cam on after I parked the car on a somewhat significant incline over night. I can't imagine that would be enough to trip the sensor though. Also, it's been parked outside of my office on a level surface for about an hour and still shows a low oil warning.

EDIT: After another hour or so, the oil now reads "Max". Yeesh. I guess parking my 135i on an incline over night is enough to trip the oil level sensor warning?

I assume you meant to say one quart of oil down - not one quart left which would be 6 quarts down!

At any rate, you have discovered that a significant incline can skew the oil level reading - hope you are breathing easier now!

It shouldn't matter if it is parked on an incline, but I would check it regularly. If it shows at the 'add' mark, then add 1 quart of BMW OEM oil from your dealer.

OP - that's normal if you do autocross. just add 1 quart of oil and you are good to go.

check your MFD and it should look like this "+1"

get castrol syntec 5W - 30 cost around $6
or you can drive around to bmw garage and they will take care of it. no need to make an appointment.

It is electronic only, there is no old fashioned tube.

Downhill (nose of the car is lower than the rear) or uphill (where the tail of the car is lower than the nose)?
