I think a couple of inches. And if you don't have the power seats, you'll gain a bit more room there too. I'm a bit concerned about this too as I'm 6'5"; particularly with being in the car with a full face helmet. I haven't done any autocrossing or track time with my car but am still planning on it. As it is right now, I have just enough headroom but haven't done any driving in my car with a helmet. Also with my height the interior rear view mirror blocks my field of vision. I've learned to work around it but when I first got my car, I did have to get used to it.

I like sitting higher up so its easier to see and place the front of the car. An extra 2 inches would be quite nice. It seems that 95% of 1 series came with sunroof. Gonna be hard finding one without.

Mine is a slicktop, there's a pic of the headliner in my build thread here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1190719
I recall the sunroof cassette is about 2 inches tall in an e36, the e82 should be quite similar. You could likely measure the distance by putting a yard stick across the car against the top of the window opening then measure up from the center of the yard stick and compare. |
