Airbag recall notice

I thought I was exempt from the Takata air bag quality problem.
My 2010 128i car is affected. It is the driver side air bag. Not happy.

Did the letter say anything about when the parts might be available?

Could be two years from now according to BMW. However they said parts should start rolling out sometime this summer. My guess is BMW is going to help/supply the parts to dealers first so they can begin to lift the ban on sales of the vehicles.

From the recall notice on the website:

Once replacement parts become available BMW will send another notification letter to owners, beginning with older model year vehicles located in BMW's previously defined HAH (High Absolute Humidity) region and expanding accordingly as more parts become available.

Likewise. My letter arrived over the weekend. This will be the 3rd car I've owned that is affected by the recall.

Have the other two cars been repaired yet?

I'm in the same boat with my 2011.

Does anyone know what the percentage of bags that have deployed that actually ejected metal debris that injured a driver? Just trying to understand how much danger we are in if the bag deploys.

In a BMW? Exactly zero.

I believe some people have been hurt in Hondas in high humidity areas like Indonesia.

I feel this airbag issue is getting blown way out (ha ha, punny!) of proportion.

This. I cannot even begin to tell you how many customers come in saying "this is ridiculous!" or my personal favorite "I paid $XXXX for my car, it should not have airbag problems!".
