New 135i owner in the DC Metro Area

What's up guys I've recently acquired a 2009 135i Msport last week. Just making a simple introduction and I'm looking forward to get to know other 135i owners. I'm coming from the Mazdaspeed platform and looking forward to fully bolting and tuning this car like I did with the previous car. It also looks like I ended up buying a forum member's car from here after they sold it lol.

Quick Question for you guys is that I've been doing my research when it comes to oil change intervals. I've usually done mine around 3000-3500 with the mazda and I know the suggested range for BMWs are 15K using LL01 oils. Is it worth it getting an oil change every 3000-3500 miles using the BMW oil?

jdspeed135 CONGRATS SIR!!!

To answer your question you can change it whenever you feel....if you do it earlier (3-5k marker) it won't hurt anything (just forum members get butthurt apparently)...

but as long as you use high quality oil you'll be fine

Thanks man. Yeah that is my plan. 3-5K oil changes 7K let alone 15K is way out of my comfort range even if i get the service done at a BMW dealership.

True true, I used to use 5w30 pennzoil platinum a lot. I need to probably look for the euro blend. What do you normally use?

any of these 3 will work fine (ive ran for over 40k miles with them)..

Rotella T6 (cheapest and MANY N54/N55 run it...really good stuff)
Mobil 1 euro blend
Castrol (euro blend or the high end edge)
Liquid Molly (decent stuff but severely overpriced in my opinion lol)

There are a legion of oil threads but I came to the realization its more speculation than anything. as long as the oil is top notch you wont have a problem.

You don't need to change any earlier than 8-10k unless you're literally racing the car. The T6 is good oil.

Even under harsh driving conditions? I'm just so used to changing at short intervals.

Depends what you mean by that. If you idle the car for hours a day like a cop, you might want to change earlier. Otherwise, if you still have a drivers license at the end of that 8-10k, you'll do fine. Anything you're likely to do on the street won't be harsh enough, and that includes pulls and the like.
