It required 5mm spacers on the front.
If I got 1" shorter springs it would probably move the spring perch out of the way of the tyres and I could get rid of the spacers.

7" spring would move the perches further up, but depends on wheel and tire combo, you may still need a 3mm or thicker spacers.

You might be correct, this is what it looks like with 225/40 tyres on 18x8 et45 wheels and a 5 mm spacer. The part that was rubbing was the top of the two spring collars. If it was one inch higher it would be above the widest part of the tyres but don't think I'll be able to fit wider tyres like I was hoping.

The other alternative would be to use a 6" spring, but would need to be of a much higher rate to prevent spring bind.

As you know, going to give the 7" spring a try. If it doesn't work I'll just be where I am now.

What minimum spring rate do you recommend to run a 6" w/o binding?

I apologize for the super late reply...please PM, email or call me next time as I sometimes don't see these replies.

At 6", you will need at least 450 lb/in or so to keep it from bind. 400 lb/in is too close to call and I know 336 lb/in Swift will bind.

New Ohlins R&T BMS MI01

The new front spring rate of 70 N/mm is also 1" shorter for more wheel/tire clearance. Improved valving to handle the spring rates.

What spring rate are you running in the rear? I am currently running a 7in 450 front and an 7in 850 rear on my ohlins. Do you think thats stiff enough in the front to go to a 6in? is 7in ok in the rear? I am starting to get worried about coil bind but i haven't noticed it on track yet.

Why do you want a shorter spring? Low?

spring perch is currently a limiting factor in fitting a wider tire and I dont think a 245 hoosier would fit without getting the perch higher.

Even a street 245 will often require the 7" spring and/or 5mm spacers.

ya im currently running a 245 Yoko a052 and have a 12mm spacer and 7" spring. It is still pretty close and would like the inboard clearance as well as fender clearance if i could run a smaller spacer

That tire must run really wide then.

Yeah the yokos run wide, I have about 10mm clearance I think but would be great to get the spring higher if it won't bind

10mm is plenty. I am usually happy with 5mm and sometimes a bit less.
