First drive...first race..
My salesman came by tonight with a 135 to take out for a drive. Finally!!! I was very happy with the car. We last 10 minutes before a 350Z pulls up next to us and asked if it is the 135 and he asked to see how it goes. Light goes green and off we go. It wasn't even close. By the top of 2nd we had pulled a car length on him so I shut it down. He pulled up beside us and said was "holy shit!" gave us the thumbs up and drove off. The 135 launches off the line really well! We hit some off ramps and tried out the handling (very good), did some freeway driving (smooth as glass and effortless torque) and tried a few more quick starts. So far there is one thing I don't like...that big cupholder looks like a sorry after thought and needs to go! Now I have to wait till I get my car next month.

I didn't do anything crazy off the line...I wouldn't say I really dumped the clutch as much as I slipped it a bit. We had the first stage of the traction control off (hit button once and it displayed DTC). I had it at maybe 2500rpm and slipped the clutch a bit and it lept forward with only a small chirp of the tires. I was suprised at how good it gripped. I found it very easy to get going off the line...love that torque!

It was all warmed up and I kept it below redline. It wasn't like we took it into a parking lot and did big smokey donuts! The dealer has demo's for a reason and that its to show what the car is capable of doing. According to my SA the demo cars lead a very tough life. I checked out the tire wear on the demo M3...tires vertually trashed! They will discount the car and people will line up to buy the car at a discount knowing that it was a demo model. Like you...I wouldn't want to own that car!

It was a MT thankfully! The only way to go (mind you I don't drive in rush hour traffic very often). I drove a AT 335 coupe. It was a nice tranny as an auto. However, in manual mode the tranny did too many things for you. If you gave it too much throttle it would downshift for you. If I wanted that I would have left it in auto mode. If you got to redline it shifted for you. Same thing...if it is in manual mode then let me descide. Besides that it was a nice smooth tranny.

The AT is ok, but I'll be sticking with MT.
