135i vs g35
I just saw a g35 commercial....306 hp, awd..( interesting ).... How does the 135i compare with the g35...quality,performance , value, etc.? Have any of you addicts experienced both autos, or at least the g35?

I just got back from the Infiniti website and there is no mention or AWD or the G35 since they now have a G37 which has 330 bHp. They used to offer a G35 sedan with AWD but it wasn't full-time AWD.

Haven't driven the 135i yet but recently drove 328i & 335i coupes and drove a G35 a few months ago. The G35 felt very competent to me and very fast but the BMW coupes felt more in control, solid and tossable -- in other words, they handle much better in my book. And the 335i is also very fast. I have high expectations for the 135i and if all goes well, I'll order.

Infiniti is a great car and a great deal. They have an AWD version of the sedan, not the coupe. It's a lot bigger than a 1 series and not nearly as fast. The AWD version is more the 0 to 60 of the 128 and is not in the same handling class. Still, a good car and a sensible choice.

To compare: G35>135 for quality, 135>G35 for performance, G35>135 for value, G35>135 for looks and sexiness, 135>G35 for handling, etc imo

I drove the G37 MT one day after driving the steptronic 135i. The G37 didn't seem nearly as fast to me. Also, even though the G37 seemed huge, I thought the back seat space was even worse, and the trunk and fold down seats didn't appear to be as spacious. I think the 135i is a no brainer over that car.
Let's look at the torque curves. G37: http://image.automobilemag.com/f/fea...dyno_chart.jpg 335i: http://image.automobilemag.com/f/mul...dyno_chart.jpg (note, torque numbers on the right) RPM BMW Infiniti 2000 270 200 3000 300 230 4000 290 235 5000 280 231 6000 225 230 7000 180 214 The BMW has 35% more torque where it is used most. That's a HUGE difference. These cars aren't in the same performance league. |

The G37 is heavier, a little slower and not as quick. It is a sexy car. I would personal get it over a 328 or a 128.
I have a 2005 G35. I will tell you that the ride is very smooth, refine, and ultimately boring. When me and the wife go out to dinner its the car we take, classy enough to valet pack or to take to black tie event and sporty enough that you can still feel like a man. I like the car a lot, but I never fell in love with it. The G35 is more of an accessory to me. It never gave me the ear to ear grin that my modded tC gives me or the excitement of my 135 on order. With that said I will most likely keep it as my daily drive and give it to my son when he turns 16 next fall. Just my thought for what they are worth .

Yes I know, in your opinion as you stated. But be real. No Japanese car equals BMW's quality, which includes many things other than interiors. We'll see how many G-whatevers are still around in 20 years, and for sure they won't be under demand like BMWs continue to be to this day. Like everything from Japan (with very few exceptions), it's disposible. Personally I think the Japanese like it that way.

Its more a luxury car than a sports car imo. It is well engineered, but void of personality. There is nothing that stands out really good or bad about the ride. A lot of people mod them to give them personality. I never got excited enough about the car to drop $15,000 in it.

the g35 sport will have an LSD and IMO handles better than a 335. haven't driven a 135 yet but they say the 135 has more understeer than a 335 and the 135 only gets slightly better handling numbers.
the g35 is too slow in a straight and its really hard to get hp out of it without going FI (i.e. boost) |

NOT the same class. The G35 Sedan is HUGE compared to the 135i. The G37S also looks much bigger, and its heavy. I personally think the G35 & G37S have much less desirable interiors. The 135i IMO is WAY better in every way........
