Copying to music collection
I have a thumb drive that has music on it. I copied music from the thumb drive to our X3 through the USB jack in the glove box. When I plug it into the USB jack in the glovebox of my 128 the system does not give me the option to copy music.
Anyone know what the problem could be? |

Is this with the premium audio? Does the premium come with onboard media storage?
I've plugged both my mP3 player and a usb flash drive in and I never had a prompt to copy anything. sorry for the dumb question and not being able to help with your original concern. miiipilot

I have iDrive and Harmon Kardon. The USB slot is in the glove box. The only difference between doing it in the 128 and in the X3 is I added some songs to the thumb drive before I tried it with the 128.

Anyone? If I pit the thumb drive in the USB jack under the arm rest it plays. I also formatted the drive and added some music to make sure it wasn't something that was on it before. This process worked flawlessly in the X3.

There was a posting on another forum that discussed the file format for the music backup. I believe that the headers on the music files were changed during the backup so you could not move music from one car to another. The posting included a program to convert the backup files back to the original format so that they would be recognized by another car.

What I'm doing is plugging my thumb drive into my Mac, opening the iTunes folder and copying what I want to the thumb drive. This process worked fine for our X3 and music can play from the thumb drive when I plug it in under the arm rest. However, when it is plugged into the USB slot in the glove box I get nothing.
