My planned order - what have I missed?
OK, looks like I can't find a car "in stock" (surprise, surprise) so a factory order it shall be....
I'm thinking: 320d SE Silver Metallic Paint Individual Sun Protection Glazing Alloy wheels style 162 Centre Armrest rear Electric seat adjustment with memory Sports front seats Leather sports steering wheel Anthracite Cloth/Leather upholstery Bluetooth Preparation (Car will be UK Spec.) What have I overlooked.....???? |

Thanks for the response. Feel some explanations in order:
162's - must have! Electric seats - yes, a luxury, but I get so fed up with getting the seat just so, and then my wife drives the car...... So I have to start all over again, that is after I've hit my knee on the steering wheel as I get in!!! Sun protection - the kids appreciate this Bluetooth - interesting about aftermarket... just seems a convenient solution....and I get the fin!! Already have one Black car in the household to look after don't want another!! Not worried about full leather - would rather spend the extra on a few other bits of kit. Xenons - Honestly don't do enough night driving to feel they are important. |

Good points. All of them. Except for the fin. I prefere the car without.
Just goes to show: Everyone has a different taste and different priorities. Ergo: Enjoy the car !! |

OFF TOPIC @ chrisbin, do you have a Griffith? I 've driven a lhd 500 a few years ago: Awesome speed man!
I love TVRs(Cerberas, Vixens, Tamoras, Typhoons) only their built quality |

Cheers Guys!
Robin - its a Chimaera 4.0litre! And since the sun is shining I'm using it today!! :rocks: Its 10 years old but looks "mint". They're actually not half as bad as people think for reliability. Having said that, I would not have one as my everyday car......as a 3rd car (Daddy's toy) its ideal!! |

Centre armrest? Is that with 60:40 split seats?
I reckon you could do without the sports front seats, I don't have them and mines leather and I've not slid out of my seat yet !(with some enthusiastic driving!!) |

I'm sure the sports seats will be more supportive but just how fast do you plan to go?

Fair point....but to be honest its about the level of comfort at any speed really... Just checked the spec's again and can't see specific mention of the split rear seat whether with or without centres armrest...... the armrest is only £65 so seemed a good idea..... |

I'm guessing since you're not choosing Nav you won't be doing a lot of traveling? And if you don't get Nav, PDC is not as cool (IMO) of an option ... so what about upgraded audio or heated seats?
And if you want sport seats and the sportiest wheels, what about the sport suspension? |

Can someone explain what comfort access is?
Multifunction buttons on steering wheel are standard on UK "SE" spec. Sports suspension is a good one and I'm still undecided..... Nav - you're right. I don't spend much time going places I don't know! Sorry if it seems I'm rejecting suggestions cos I really appreciate the input. |

For me, the Xenons are a must. A must. It's more than just to have during night time driving. It's so, so, so worth the money. For aesthetic reasons, for safety reasons, ... I don't see how anyone buying a BMW, not just the 3 series, cannot get them. BMW does HID (OEM) lighting design better than anyone. Period. And their Headlamp designs are better than anything I've seen on any other competitor, OEM or aftermarket.

Comfort access?
Hmmmm......think you could be right about that one.... We had a Touareg on test, before buying ours, that had the keyless entry/start system and it certainly was nice.... Now where was that price list....how much is it.....?? Sunroof? Good call! Used to love them but haven't had a car with one for a while now......well, apart from the TVR which doesn't really count!!!!!! Thanks guys! |

Xenons?
Well I guess we're just not going to agree on that one! The design of the standard units looks fine to me. And as far as effectiveness/safety goes, well if the standard ones aren't up to the job then they shouldn't be fitted.... So, personally, for the use that they would have - very little night time driving on unlit roads - they are an expensive and unnecessary option. In my "past life" where I was driving 35-40k mls p.a. then I would have felt differently. |
