Considering selling

Curious what experienced enthusiasts think about price on this.

2nd owner. 2013 135is with 7sp DCT. 67k miles. No premium packages. Just spent $2500 at dealer on VCG, expansion tank and new Bridgestones all around.

Black on black in near-perfect condition with zero dings. Style 313 wheels.

It is a perfect car in every way, but it's a DD and gas cost is killing me.

Honestly, I think the biggest issue you'll have is that its DCT. Most "enthusiasts" want the 3rd pedal, regardless of how nice the automatic transmission is.

I've seen similar cars listed for 18-20k but I have no idea what they actually sold for.

BMWCCA, 2013 135iS, 14,400 miles, DCT, asking $27,500. Looks like it's been for sale for some time now.

$17K should be about right. Love the DCT!

Yeah KBB lists it between 17 and 19. Probably will depend on location also, which is mid-atlantic.

I've always loved the third pedal, but that DCT is the freaking BOMB.

Yeah that's a stretch. But 14k miles is hella attractive.

The cost of gas is killing him? I wouldn't believe a word this guys says. This car needs close scrutiny by a BMW mechanic. If it's OK, make him an appropriate offer in alignment with the market.

BTW, when cars get to a certain age, low mileage doesn't add much to the value.

I think that depends on the car but I would agree thats the rule as opposed to the exception.

Not to be a pessimist, but I don't see you getting more than 15k for the car. What are you planning on replacing it with? There isn't much out there that can offer you what your 1er already can. How bad is your commute that mileage is an issue?

Wow, 15k.

I love the car and it is perfect in nearly every way. But my wife puts a TON of miles on it (40k this year) and it takes the expensive stuff. So yeah it's gas cost, but I'm also just projecting out mileage and repairs. Just put $2500 into it for VCG, expansion tank and tires. I know I can't replace it for 15k, but I'm tiring of maintaining the 600k miles of BMW in my driveway, and want to get basic transportation (under warranty) for my wife.

No way you only get 15k, and saying mileage doesn't matter is silly. That's one of the first thing every buyer looks at. I think you can get 17k no prob. The only issue for us is that the market for a 1 series is very, very small, so it will likely take several months to sell.

What the hell does she do to put 40k miles a year on a car?

For that many miles... sell it... or at least park it ASAP. Get a used Camry.

I was at my Toyota dealership a few months ago getting the factory included maintenance done. At the long desk of SAs, I overhead a conversation with a customer who was picking up his truck. Something that jumped out at me was astonishing....he had put 80k miles on his truck in one year.

It being a 2013 model is going to command a premium as well as being a 135iS. Black on black is nothing special and I assume there's no iDrive. With minimal options, DCT, and 67k miles, starting at $20k would probably be a great starting point.

I have a 2013 is with all the options and 59k miles I may have to sell as well though I really don’t want to. But I have a baby on the way and I don’t think the 1er is going to be the best car to tote around a stroller and child seat. I’d be happy with 20k hope that helps.

It can be done. I drove my daughter around in my 1er from her birth till she just turned 4. It just depends on the type of car seat you get and how tall you and the people you want to drive around are.

+1 my sister and I grew up being driven around in MKII gti's.
I am going to keep my 1er and 3-door GTI until the wheels fall off!

I did it with a 911. The 135i feels like a minivan compared to that car! 😀

I do 25k a year just on my commute. That is one of the reasons I went for the 128I instead of the 135i... reduced maintenanice costs. No turbos that need expensive servicing, etc, etc

Another $450 for alignment and steering angle calibration, and $350 for clay-bar and full detail including engine compartment. Most of this is work I can do myself but don't have the time currently. But damn what a gorgeous car.

Seems like around $17-18k for private sale, and $13-14k possibly for trade-in. If I lay out another $10-15k for the next car - seems like I could fund a lot of maintenance and repairs for that.

My experience with my N54 335 is that a bunch of repairs were needed between 60-100k miles. After that, the next 100k were event-free.

Beginning to waver...
