Maybe Gill can chime in on this. Was stated here that the 1er comes with no spare tire and no tire jack. I will be planning on purchasing a winter wheel/tire set for the winter months.
What type of jack will I need to purchase and does the 1er have jack points under the car for a jack that does not exist? Remember when all BMW's came with a set of tools under the trunk lid? I'm starting to get nervous about getting this car, so many extra items needed for a Premium automobile. I will also dump the RFT's after they wear out and will get the repair kit Gill listed here. But the question remains on the winter change over problem. |

If you change out the RFT's for standard tires and you need RSA, will BMW honor the service call? Or will they freak out and say you should be running RFT's and should be able to limp back to a tire shop.

The jack points on the 1 are obnoxious. They are big resin pads that hang down below the body lines. You can't miss them. I'm sure there are good photos of them out there but I haven't searched. You can see them sticking down in chriskurn's signature picture.

To add to what was said above...an inexpensive floor jack works so slick. The "standard" jacks in cars suck compared to a floor jack. You can jack the side of a car up so much faster with a floor and they seem more secure to me.

Hi all - my first post.
Since the RFTs are heavier, have thicker sidewalls, and less traction, would 17" RFTs be similar to 18" regular tires? I was planning on getting the sport package on the 128 with 17" wheels. I'd like to migrate to 18 CSLs non-staggered. Would this be okay as a daily driver, or will I be sorry after a few potholes? |

i had runflats on my c5, one of my tires blew a hole (instantly deflated) while I was weaving in and out of traffic on the freeway, in the rain, at about 80mph at night. the steering pulled to the side, but i did not loose control, did not even break traction. I calmly pulled off the freeway and drove home at under 50mph. next morning went to a tire shop plopped $500 to replace the eagle f1 rft. So you don't use roadside assistance when you have runflats. Wonder how the car would have reacted if it didn't have runflats.

Anyway, when would one use the RSA (road side assistance) if you don't need it when you have a flat tire? Flat tire without run flat tires? Overheated engine I suppose? Can't think of much else..

QUESTION ABOUT RUN FLATS:
If I am going to work, get a flat, can I just do my shift and THEN go get another $400 tire ??? The BMW dealer is 9 miles from work. What IF they are closed? Then what? I can't afford to miss a full days work because of these stupid tires. And I have heard they go flat MUCH EASIER then regular tires. The last flat I had was in 1999 with my Toyota Tacoma that had those FIRESTONE CRAP TIRES, the sidewall blew out, 3 inch hole. P.O.S. |

But say I just bought the car and have nothing else. If I get a flat, can I wait 13 hours then go get another tire. Can it sit for awhile before fixing, or I guess you must keep driving up to 150 miles below 50 mph and get fixed/replaced right away? I have never used fixa-flat? I also hear its bad for aluminum wheels and will definitely ruin the $400 tire. I just don't know anything :iono: |

no tool kit in the lid there is a small kit in a vinyl pouch under the trunk Flore. and the BMW assist numbers are in the radio computer under info. I'm also no sure how they will asses paying for your tow or roadside assistance when you have a problem because you took your runflats off.
