Remote Pro-Tuning

So I hear that with Cobb it's all about Pro-tuning and that's where the biggest gains inpower and drivability are had. Am I wrong?

I remember reading some stuff about Bren Tuning who i believe is a Pro-tuner but felt disappointed that over here we had no Pro-tuners. Then one popped up...but it's 300miles away. So I wanted to ask what people think of the remote services offered by PTF. Is it as good as an in-house pro-tune? Owners opinions etc.

I loved the step up from Stage 1 to FBO but as you do, you get used to it so I'd like a little more power but more so refinements in the mapping vs OTS Stage 2+.

It’s impossible for a remote tune to be as involved as in-person, but there is absolutely zero question in my mind that PTF will be able to deliver you a tune that is SO much better than the OTS Cobb offerings. PTF (well Jake of PTF) is local to me, and their reputation is extremely well earned. Dozens of DMV folks have been tuned by Jake, I’m not aware of any who were less than thrilled at the outcome. The PTF guys are really good about prompt responses for those remote tuning as well, you won’t be waiting a week for each map revision. Honestly, you probably won’t have to wait a day for map revisions. I don’t mean to sound like a walking sales pitch for PTF, but I feel pretty strongly about the quality of their work.

If you’re limited to pump gas don’t expect huge peak gains. But a far more refined, smooth, and usable power curve is what they will deliver. I’ve driven a FBO pump gas map on a PTF tuned E9x, it was so much better than OTS.

I have had approx 3 PTF E-tunes, I have worked with both Jake and Dzenno and I can say that once you get an E-Tune you will be so angry.....ANGRY THAT YOU DIDNT DO IT SOONER!!!

Best money I had ever spent, as I said I have done it THREE times. One with half my mods on, then with all of them, then with the Vargas turbos And will be getting one again when I add Meth

I have had 2 e tunes from jake at PTF. amazing customer service and end result. my FBO tune was started by logging on the street and getting map revisions. the final few revisions were remotely done while I was on the dyno. very pleased with the results

Thanks for the kind words guys

Cozy, we have tuned between 150-200 N54s at this point. We have tuned everything from tune only daily drivers to carbon fiber bodied circuit track cars and everything in between. That familiarity and understanding of the platform is what's absolutely necessary when getting your N54 tuned. we'd love the opportunity to put our experience and knowledge to work on your car and making it perform the best it ever has

If you want to get started or have ANY questions please send an email to jake@protuningfreaks.com

OTS maps are just designed to hold you over until you're ready for that bump in power and smoothness you get with a protune!

Honestly that’s exactly how I view them. They’re a safe placeholder that won’t blow anything up until you get a real flash tune made for your specific vehicle.

Sorry to unearth this guys but, before I go ahead with this would you recommend DCI's or upgraded panel filter for an otherwise FBO car? I'm still with stock intake and filter.

Pretty much I only want to do this once...unless one day I go for meth or RB's.

So for an otherwise stock N54, would I expect a better and smoother power delivery than the OTS maps? I'm having problems with the OTS maps currently, and not sure if this is a sign of a tune unsuited to my motor, or whether it's the symptom of an underlying problem..

Yes the protunes are much smoother and deliver better power. Hard to say if theres anything wrong with your car without logs though
