Question for those that have BMW Performance Rotors - REAR
For those that have the genuine BMW Performance Rotors in the REAR can you please tell me if your holes in the rotors are drilled all the way through or are simply indentations for aesthetic purposes. If you can post pics that would be even better.
I purchased the BMW Performance Rotors for the FRONT from Dan@United and had them installed a few months ago. They look fantastic, the holes are drilled the whole way through and I have no doubt these are genuine pieces. I purchased the BMW Performance Rotors for the REAR from BM MINI. The first thing I noticed is that the holes have not been drilled the whole way through and are only indentations that are a few millimetres deep. I did not check the rotors and left them inside the packaging before I had them installed. What I would like to know is if these are indeed genuine BMW Performance Rotors or if I have been sold replicas. I have attached photos for reference of the front and rears. Thanks in advance. |

Interesting, I wonder why are they dimpled instead of being drilled??

They are indeed dimpled in the rear, but from what I've heard dimpled is better than drilled because it is a little less prone to cracking. I at first was a little upset that the the rears were dimpled and not drilled like the fronts, but they are both slotted which makes me happy and with the group buy pricing from Dan I couldn't pass it up.

From conversations with Dan when the long awaited for rears (finally) became available I believe that BMW maintain these are more of a 'cosmetic' than a performance part. Hence dimpled for looks rather than drilled for function.
I was one of the addicts who waited and pressed for the matching rears for looks before ordering the set.
