I haven't gone to a BMWCCA event in LI in years. I don't do SCCA events often. I do most of the events with Motorsports NE at Giant's stadium and a few PCA events. Do big track DE stuff and time trials with NASA.

Don't forget Northern New Jersey Region of SCCA runs autocrosses at the Meadowlands/MetLife/Giants stadium. Almost all the events are on a Saturday. http://www.autox4u.com/clubs/nnjr-scca/
It's where you'll find me and my 1M.

I did it with them once at the Raritan center...the lot was way too small and covered in rocks.

The Meadowlands rock. It has a smooth, large, lot that allows for a variety of course design.

I'll be going to my first autox with the 1M tomorrow. Can anyone recommend a good starting tire pressure for stock tires? I was thinking 34psi cold all around to start but have no idea what to target for hot pressures to adjust to.

Also, the OP mentioned max negative camber in the front, but I have been to a mechanic who told me there is NO adjustment for the front camber. How do you get max neg? Loosen and push?

I plan to have a great time!

The stock links should allow about -.5 degrees but anything above that requires camber plates. Hot pressures on the PS2s should be around 40 PSI from my experience.

Are you going at Nassau?

Time for a different mechanic. You can get a fair amount out of these pigs. Stock they'll have about 1.1-1.25 negative.

No camber plates needed. As you said 40 psi is good for getting a feel of the car. No Nassau for me as work supersedes fun for now.

I will be attending the SCCA National Tour next weekend in Ayer, MA at Fort Devens/Moore Army Airfield.

Today through Monday, our own Kerry Emmert will be running his 1M at the SCCA Pro Solo and Tour in Blytheville, AR. Live feed will hopefully be on soon: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sccasolo

Where is the adjustment, at the top of the strut, or at the lower mounts? Do you just loosen things up, push, and tighten? The mechanic that looked is pretty well respected, but he is more of a maintenance mechanic than a tuner. He exclusively does Euro and autocrosses a lot, so I figured he would know where to look.

Basically that's it. Getting a tech to really do it is the hard part. When I did tire temps last weekend I was within four degrees across the rears. The fronts are still a little high on the inside but not too bad (less than 10°).

BTW, Kerry Did Not Start (DNS) this morning. I have a note to him asking what happened.

Very impressive time. Also, you almost took 1st!

Was the GT3 RS driver sleeping in the middle of the run?

Had issues issues with changing classes that caused me to miss the 1st 4 runs that were my fault.

Ran the next 4. My 60 foot times were on pass with the c6 z06's, which surprised me. I am late and don't know the course but I am sorting the car out. I am upping the bump in the front and lowering the car another 8th of an inch in the morning. I just don't feel like the turn in is where it should be.

Yea, looks like you're hesitant. Too much time with no throttle and no braking.

First autocross in the 1M is under my belt. Car is fully stock including tires. Weather was cool, no more than 60 degrees ambient temps.

I should have listened to you guys on tire pressures. 40 psi hot was suggested here, but most people in the club running the event recommended 35 psi hot. The club has not yet released the exact results, but here is what I roughly remember:

4 AM runs:
1st run: 57.xxx seconds. MDM on, learning the course
2nd run: 51.22x seconds. MDM on, felt pretty good. Following this run, I adjusted tire pressures, letting the rears down to 36 from 38 psi as they were not scrubbing anywhere near the outer edge. Fronts were up to about 39psi, but still scrubbing all the way to the outer marks, so I left them alone.
3rd run: 51.4xx seconds. MDM on, had a passenger with me, run still felt good, car seemed pretty well balanced, understeering a little.
4th run: 49.6xx seconds. MDM/TC fully off. The run was fun, and I held back a bit. I definitely felt that I left a few tenths behind. Unfortunately, this ended up being my best run of the day. Fronts were at about 40psi at the end of the run, rears 36.

For the afternoon, I decided to let the front pressures down to 36 psi, thinking I may roll the tires a little more but have more contact patch. I never should have done that.

4 PM runs (all with MDM/TC fully off)
1st run: 52.xxx. Felt timid after lunch, feeling out the course. Car definitely felt like it was understeering more.
2nd run: 53.5xx Felt good early, but got off line once due to braking too late, had to scrub tons of speed to avoid cones.
3rd run: 51.6xx
4th run: 51.8xx

I was pretty consistent in the last two runs and just couldn't get any more. The sun had gone away and wind had picked up, so the track surface was probably colder than the AM. Despite that, most drivers set their best times in the afternoon. The next time I go, I will target 39-40 psi hot in the front. The rears seem to like 36-37.

For reference, TTOD was 47.6xx from a prepped miata with r-compound tires. A lotus elise on r-comps was running consistent 48 second times.

I ended up 1st in class, but I have no idea where my PAX placement was. I'll update when I find out.

Finally found the online results for the event above. There were 51 cars at the event.

TTOD was a prepped miata on race tires, 47.675.

My best time was 49.589, good for 14th raw time, 18th overall in PAX. I should be able to do better as this was my first autocross in 4 years.

I am going again this Sunday and will have some video from my GoPro. I will be looking for some feedback from the experts. It will be HOT (97 deg). I plan to target 40psi all around to start, and will leave the front alone this time!

Still on stock PS2's.

Next set will be PSS for sure, still debating whether to stay with OEM size or bump up to 255F/275R.

Here are my best two runs . . .

Run #6 was my best clean run, 42.808. I then had one of the club's top drivers drive my car for me and improved by nearly 5 tenths on run #7, 42.380. I tapped a cone, which sucked because it felt clean and the cone I hit (to my right at 1:34 in the vid) probably did not give me much time advantage. I just made the mistake of looking ahead to the hard braking zone and tucked it in as a result.

For reference, TTOD was 40.425 by a prepared 944. Top time in street tire stock class was a Saturn Sky Redline 41.818.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
