Yesterday while driving, I'm stopped at a light. A car pulls up next to me and motions me to roll down my window. I do so thinking he is lost or something. To my surprise, he's asking about my 1. Asked what year it was and if I was happy with the car. We chatted for about a minute and roll off.

I guess the 1 is still relevant. And my car wasn't in car show condition as it needs a wash bad.

I get compliments all the time in my 135i in ny.. when i went to h20i last summer on the way i stopped for gas and an old couple were staring and talking to me about my car sayin how nice it was and asking what model it is and whatnot.

And this is all on a 1m front end kit that hasnt even been painted yet!

I put the 1 in the garage as pictured since i just bought a 640i GC to daily drive in and the 1 for summer fun

This only happened to me once, and recently. Young guy with a flat-brimmed hat in a lifted Silverado here in Dallas at a stop light complimented the car. I was not expecting that at all. Usually the brodozer crowd looks down on all small cars, literally and figuratively.

I occasionally get a thumbs up cruising around the DC area with the top down, especially in winter!

Only random street comment I've had was "Nice 3"..... I just smiled and gave him a thumbs up.... ((sigh))

Folks at my office thought it was brand new, which was cool. Led to some interesting conversations when I told them it was ~10 years old and out of production for the U.S. for several years.

negative, they are OEM bmw 1m fenders and bumper
