Cleaning brake rotors
When I bought my e88 135i about 4000km ago I was impressed by the brakes.
But over time the big Brembos began to feel pretty crappy and lacked bite. The getting and rear pads are practically new genuine OEM BMW parts as the previous owner always services at the dealer. I was almost ready to buy new pads when I decided to clean the rotors with brake cleaner. I had been doing this on my bike and noticed an improved feel. After the clean the brakes are basically like new again and it bites well. Does anyone else find they have to clean the rotors to maintain a good brake feel? The rotors only have 49000km on the front (original pair) and the rears only have maybe ten thousand km as they were replaced recently. They appear to be in good condition with even wear. |

I might recommend a good bed in procedure every few oil changes. Help remove residue and buildup.

Could just be the previous owner living in the north, shitty salt covered roads, possibly a dumbass behind the wheels, or not properly servicing the brakes..I've noticed the brake bite isn't as strong as it should be though that could also just be give and lag in the brake lines as well. |
