CoreyZ > Not much of a difference. I didn't have a scale, but online searches (not including the transmission) has the N54 at 430lbs. 2J with the bulky/stock twins is 490lbs. Without the twins and exhaust manifold, the 2J is 400lbs. A single turbo system is not very heavy...so we should be right around the same weight.

I've had trouble finding weights for things in the past - sometimes you get widely varying numbers.

http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/3226...weights-table/

This says 595 lbs for the engine, 746 lbs including the six speed. Having helped lift one by hand on to a loading dock before, I can safely say they are heavy AF!

I think your weight might be a little on the low side. A good friend of mine had a 2jz swapped S2000, and said the extra weight completely ruined the car's handling. The F20c weighs about 330lbs - if the single turbo 2J in his car only weighed 400 and change I don't think it would have had such a pronounced effect.

CoreyZ > Depends what you leave on it. I'm giving you the weight of the engine and turbos only, minus all the accessories ie. ac, tranny, etc.

If it's to heavy, then no big deal. We'll beef up the suspension to accommodate the extra weight.

Just be aware that it will very likely affect the feel of the car. Properly set up suspension can mitigate it somewhat, but you'll still be able to tell. If it's not a big deal then carry on of course!

Basically don't trust the weights people throw around on the forums unless you actually see it on a scale. There was a page that had a lot of BMW engine weights that people would throw around - turns out it was only giving shortblock weights. The only 2j weights that involved actually scales were three different FDs - a 2J, 13B, and LS2. 2J was heaviest of the bunch by a good margin.

I was talking to my friend who is pretty familiar with these, he quoted the 2jZ at being around 600lbs. It will absolutely change the handling dynamics of the car.

The weight and handling shouldnt affect the car being a high horsepower focused build. It will be great on the airstrip and drag.

ilikebmxbikes > Thanks man. I'm going to try and get a weigh in prior to putting the engine in. Unfortunately, I didn't have a scale when I had them side by side.

curious, do you not use hood pins with your hood? I want the same hood but the hood pins are kind of ugly IMO.

no you cannot, you really need the 1m conversion like tun3d . the ecs kit is just to reach the 10 mm to avoid rubbing whit the same spec of wheels as tun3d . To fit 295 its depend of the tire sidewall too, look the post #12 here :

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...&highlight=295

i hope its help.

+ 1 with dbronnik && fredy...

katsooba > 295's in the rear on a standard 1-series is "nearly" impossible. I say "nearly", as with some ingenuity...you can probably make it happen. Will it be functional? I'm not really sure, but I've watched a bunch of porn in my short life, and have seen things fit where they shouldn't -- ha!

Anyways...

Read this -- these dudes are some for-real track guys...
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=710715

Most you can functionally fit with the right tires/offset/spacers (that I've seen up to this point), are 285's...

With the ECS hub kit, and an extra 10mm, you can probably get the 295's in there...

I would do some more research and ask those guys tho -- they've been thru it. I'm still dealing with my engine swap and will have to address this issue very soon. I'll be of more help in the next few months...

While the ECS kit gives you 10mm more clearance on the outside, it takes away 10mm clearance on the inside. It's the same effect as removing a 10mm spacer.

Source: I did that same e9x hub conversion.

dbronnik > Thanks man. I'm definitely going to do that so that I can use my current setup @ 295. I'm also going to get me some smaller wheels to rip on, and max out the tire size. Something tells me I'm gonna need it...

Weight is pretty comparable -- pretty scary how similar it is. I'm still missing a few parts like the FMIC, Radiator, AC Condensor and Intake Manifold. I'm sitting about an inch higher than it was prior to the swap. Once I get everything back in, it should be right there. Don't think I'm going to have to change anything suspension wise.
