Looks great. Interested in seeing how the yellow looks installed in your dash.

What's the difference with the bimmian needles? Haven't heard of them before somehow.
Well, I thought they would directly swap over since so much of the E9x stuff does. but the stems were not the same so.i was forced to cut both sets and transfer my OEM ones to the Bimmian ones. Then realized two of them were too long. My mistake for not paying attention to that to begin with. They are super nice though, gloss black with red needles, clear body so the light can travel through. They're nice, I just have to see if I can find the shorter ones. I'll get some pics installed when I get them working. I feel like I fell for my precious mistake and didn't disconnect the battery first and now my gauges don't work

I was wondering if this was a thing people did on theses cars, because I was thinking of doing it my self. How did you attached the mesh to the diffuser?

Just 5-minute epoxy. I used Gutter Guard from ACE ($2.99) as the mesh.

Forgot to mention, I also put some 13mm aquarium tubing up the b-pillar seal to hopefully stop the whistling and insane wind noise that gets through there at highway speeds. I've been doing lots of minor things lately. I also lightly polished and cleaned the tips on my Corsa exhaust.

The exhaust still rattles. I had hoped the larger opening in the 135i/M-Sport diffuser would stop it rubbing against the bumper, which it did, but that wasn't the source of my noise. More exploratory work to do...

Dropped it off at the body shop to have a few things sorted out. I miss it already.

Did this work??? I had to adjust my drivers window a few times and I still have the faintest of whistles coming thru when I'm on the highway.

Yup, no more whistling or excessive wind noise.

Anyone know if the index 12 recall is still valid?
Or was it from an old recall...
Found out I have 4 index 9 injectors and 2 index 5 injectors...
This being the reason I couldn't go dinan stage 2/3(per my SA)...
There is an ad for 750 for index 12's...
Thinking about making an offer...

If you have the stock exhaust & it rattles like metal biding, do the golf tee mod & it should fix the rattle noise & it'll sound a little bit deeper with the flap opened.

If I had stock exhaust, that's what I'd do. Unfortunately, I don't, so, I can't.

I tried tightening the clamp, but that didn't work. I don't know what else it could be, other than maybe a damaged catalyst that's audible now that there's no resonator and very little muffler. But that doesn't make sense because it only does it during a cold start, or when passing through 2100-2400rpm.

"What did you do during the Vid (Rona?) lockdown, Great Grandpa?"

What I could, in the garage, with whatever tools I had at hand. I have a much more elegant design already mocked up, but I don't have access to the right machinery. Been thinking about boxing it in for a long time; I never liked the open span between the two, front suspension arms. E9x M3 and many others bridge that gap. (E9x X-Drive, etc.)

I saw freedomfries on E90post did something similar to what I wanted to do and I figured now was the time to duplicate those efforts for evaluation. It's just some .375 x 1.25 6061 (overkill) with 10.5 mm (Z-drill (.413) holes 374 mm apart. 15mm spacers are required at the front. I used .875 OD 6061 stock with 10.5mm holes for the spacer. It's bolted together with Grade 10.9 M10x60 flange head bolts in front and by 40mm long bolts at the rear. (4) each BMW P/N 07147199279 rivnuts are also required as well as some M10 threaded rod and nuts to install the rivnuts in the subframe. I torqued the flange head bolts to 60 NM (44 lb-ft) +105 degrees, same as the bolts that go there in the verts.

It fits within the stock belly pan. minor trimming to the lower radiator seal is required.

I also got measurements to make "fancy" braces to go there, something that looks more factory.

Great job!

have you been able to try the car since?

What improvement was expected???

would you share your measurements for a more factory like braces?

thanks!

Oh okay. I thought that if you had the stock exhaust, the rattle could have come from the exhaust valve. But that's not the cases good luck with it.

Wouahh

very nice sheet metal parts!

We wait for your feedback ( reduced NVH???) & your progress in the cad design validation of these parts.

thanks a lot.

Finally managed to get my VRSF catleass downpipes installed that I’ve been dreading to do for a few months. Actually wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Took just over 3 hours from start to start up. Love the way it sounds now and good news about wrapped downpipes and fitment. They are close to a bolt that’s just in front of the trans and of course the motor mount. But I’m happy with them.

Nice work. Keep in mind that with wrap like that it's a wear component, so you need to inspect it regularly and remove and rewrap if it wears out. Can't remember what the life-span is of kevlar/fiber heat wrap but it's not permanent.

This is amazing. Please start a thread to document this product development if you don't mind. We need this to get stickied if it turns out to be beneficial.

If it works, will you make a couple more?

I really don't thing that brace will do anything but take up space. I don't see the subframe being floppy and flexing or moving.

The intercooler/radiator mount though, it's a worthless piece of garbage and bracing it absolutely helps. The weight of the 7.5" race cooler pulled my mounts down about 2"+. So I bent them back into place and made up a little brace.
It's been doing better and I can smash through snow with much more confidence now.

Are you basically replacing the Reinforcement plate in the link below? Does that plate fit?

Yes. I don't know if it will fit, but at the least it would require modification to the under tray. That's why I didn't go down that path. I think it's close, though.
