I feel in the coming months we will unfortunately see more M2C wrecks....

When the 1M's came out the problem was "too much" car and "not enough" driver....
These trends tend to repeat.....

Not sure what the circumstances were of this wreck and I don't want want to imply the driver was at fault , but one thing for sure , you need to have a healthy
respect for the power these cars can put out...even bone stock....and if your going to turn the nannies off you'd better be an above average driver....

One major factor in almost all the wrecked 1M's I bought and fixed was worn out tires....
not sure that tires had anything to do with this M2C going off the road but if the temperatures were low and the driver didn't get some heat into them it would be like driving on ice.....
just my 2 cents.....

Im in the process of rebuilding a 2018 M2 that I just bought at auction in Nevada.....car had about 4500 miles on it and yes, all 4 tires were toast.....Continentals to be more specific....

Ill be keeping my eyes open for a M2C to rebuild....

Please drive safe and make me wait along time for one.....

Good to hear that you're still around doing your resurrection surgery.

Please also drop a line in your dedicated 1M build thread: see here.

Just speculation but was this a manual vehicle?

I only inquire because I've seen first hand some inexperienced manual drivers fuss about during the process of shifting...add that with a decently powerful RWD car....they won't be able to catch it if it goes side ways.

New car + very low mileage + bald tires + totalled = tell-tale sign that the car has been trashed most of the time of its short life in DSC OFF or SPORT+ mode.

The 'totalled' part I don't like just as you, but the rest?

If it wasn't totalled?
Who cares? it's a 1M/M2/M2c...

Driving(on a closed course like a track!) with DSC /all nannies off gives you way more depth of what the 1M/M2/M2C stands for than driving with all nannies on.

If I could not turn DSC/nannies totally off I would not have this car in the first place at all.

But each to their own.

Better invest in yourself as a driver: Trackdays/antiskidpads/driftdays whatever instead of stickers/carbon parts etcetera

Cheers and drive safely

If it's a manual or a DCT it can happen with both either way at the same time and occasion. Not kidding.

On the other hand , shifting from let's say 3-2 and letting off of the clutch too fast/not heel toeing can give shiftlock: Driven wheels locking up...

Cheers

That didn't take long.....
I was looking thru the auctions today and this very car that's in this post is up for sale at a salvage auction in Seattle , Washington....
the insurance company totaled it out...
I'm curious to see how much this will go for....
Looking at the pictures , it doesn't seem that bad....
Being that its the first M2C Ive seen at a salvage auction I think its going to sell at a pretty high number....

You nailed my point spot on!

Only saving grace with the DCT is that you have both hands on the wheel at that exact moment....but inexperience is inexperience regardless!

Who wrecked a black M2C in Washington?

Black M2C totaled at 1200 miles!! Ahhh, insurance is going to be brutal on these.

How does one go about buying parts off of the car without buying the entire car?

you can't. it's an insurance auction and you would have to buy the whole car or find the person who buys it and try to buy parts from them
