Had a bunch of different summer tires. DW didn't last me long, just shy of 10k miles for a set of rears. Not sure the value comes out equal to those which cost more, grip better, but ultimately last longer.

Ran DWs for while on the '08 - found them to be a bit 'greasier' than the RE050As they replaced. I replaced those with Pilot Sport AS3s, as much for their wide temperature range performance as any fantasy claims about being able to run them in snow. ; -)

The PS AS3s were great. Having spent money on bunches of different tire brands over the years Michelins have been the brand I keep coming back to.

I seriously appreciate all the comments, especially on a topic that gets so beaten to death on internet forums.

My car is just my DD and I never push it anywhere near its limits. I'm interested in these DWs because anything will be better than the RFTs they replace, they're a little less expensive than PSSes, and their treadwear rating is a bit higher (340 vs 300). I ate through a set of RFTs (160 rating) in 10K miles of simple city driving, that's bullshit. Plus I feel like my RFTs are actually getting harder with age and I simply can't wait to get rid of them. Money money money money....

And so I may give these a try, I'll report back when I do.

FWIW OP, you can't compare treadwear ratings between companies. It's basically gibberish.

New DWs are on the car and my very first impression (two mile drive back to my office) is WOW ARE THESE QUIET. I'll fiddle with pressures before making much more judgement, but for starters I'm quite happy.

Make sure you give em a couple hundred miles for all the various release agent and other whatnot oils to work out of em before you really get serious about consistency and ability of em. They feel good now, but will feel better after a few hundred miles

I loved my DW's. I couldn't find a set in stock in the size for the 1er, but loved em on my M5. Quite happy with the DWS's, but the DW's definitely were stickier. Glad to hear you like them so far, they're one of my favorite tires I've used.

i run bf goodrich rivals... i know not the same class of tires, but if you dont daily the car, its great even with shitty treadwear rating.

it really is like having a superglue spray in front of the tire as you corner

Maybe a little off topic but that mid-corner bump wiggle is more likely your subframe bushings (assuming you haven't done them yet) than tires. It's just that the soft sidewalls of the DW's absorb the bump and the stiffer PSS don't and thus expose the squishy bushings. Upgraded bushings or inserts will make a huge difference with those mid-corner bumps. As for the DW's, I hear pretty much only good things about them and as noted they're somewhat tunable with tire pressure.

I have Whiteline full subframe bushings, performance suspension and E92 M3 front sway-bar. The bushings were not the issue. The problem wasn't a bump wiggle but more of a squirm due to the greasy nature of the liquid asphalt.
