Which icon ?

The RED icon is telling you that your brake fluid needs to be changed & flushed due since July 2016!!

The other two icons are: seat belt not buckled and your engine check light(have to scan for codes with a BMW reader). For the ECL you can download BMW Carly and get a OBDII dongle to read the codes.

Braking will be improved with fluid change. You would be surprised how dirty the fluid is. If you DIY, use a different color fluid so you can tell when the new fluid is through the brake lines.

This stuff is pretty cheap and is OEM

Tools:

4 jack stands
floor jack
17MM socket and breaker bar (to remove the wheels)
Torque wrench (to re-install wheels and torque wheel bolts)
set of flare-nut wrenchs (10MM IIRC) to open bleeder valves on the calipers, or special brake bleeder wrench will work also
turkey baster
rags
brake clean
clear plastic tubing and a small jar, or a brake bleeding canister
extra person, or a vacuum/pressure brake bleeding canister

Procedure:

Lift car
remove wheels
suck fluid out of the master cylinder with turkey baster, refill with fresh fluid

Bleeding:

Start with the right rear wheel:
attach small plastic hose to bleeder valve and put into jar with fresh fluid to cover the end of the hose so no air will get in the caliper.
slightly open valve
have partner gently push down on brake pedal (do not bottom it out) several times until fresh fluid comes out of the caliper.
Repeat bleeding steps on the other wheels in this order:
left rear
right front
left front

Wipe and clean up spilled brake fluid with brake clean.
install wheels (might as well rotate them)
lower vehicle

The brake pedal should feel more "solid" or less spongy. Also... you won't have water in your fresh brake fluid so there will be less chance of your brake internal parts corroding.

BMW NA says to change your brake fluid every two years. Over here in DE, BMW AG says to change it every year! ABS valve bodies and six or eight piston brake calipers aren't cheap to replace! So change that brake fluid!
