Climate Control - Amount of air can't be changed
I normally keep my climate control set to auto, so I don't usually play with the amount of air that it blasts, but I tried it this morning and no matter the setting, the climate control blasts the same amount of air.
The heater still works, and the ac is fine as well - The control for the temperature seems to work correctly, but I am no longer able to choose the amount of air. Not sure what could possibly be going wrong here, so any help would be great. |

Sounds like a failed blower motor controller. It is under the passenger side of the dash, right beside the bottom of the blower motor.

You might try enabling AC is you haven't already. When my car thinks it needs to clear the windshield, even in the winter, and I don't have AC enabled, it drives the fan motor like crazy.

This is my guess. No idea if BMW seperates their electronics out, but a lot of cars have the big variable resistor as a seperate chunk of that to buy. I'd say maybe you'll be lucky and can buy a cheap part, but we're talking bmw here.

You don't know how to use the climate control!
When you have the climate control engaged, auto lights up green, the fan control is inoperable. If you turn off the climate control, then you can vary the fan speed.
The reason for this is when the climate control is on, it takes over all functions of heating & cooling the interior of the vehicle. Turn it off and you are on your own or manual operation. |
