Variable Valve Code & Rough Running Result

Hello, new to the forum. Just picked up an 09 128I. After replacement of the valve cover gaskets and right after, the vehicle began to run rough with the code on for variable valve adjustment solenoid. Replaced it with a Vaico brand one. Immediately regretted that decision. The first giveaway should have been the "Made in China" sticker but I proceeded anyway. Code cleared but the vehicle drove like crap. Surging at idle, chugging on accel, intermittent misfire at medium throttle. Needless to say for half the price of OEM it was a good test with horrid results. New OEM variable valve adjusters are on order and should arrive within a day or 2. Swapped original parts back in and test drove the vehicle, issues are pretty much gone besides the occasional misfire at idle and check engine light.

Just hit 93,000 miles.
