buying in QLD and transfering to NSW
Hey Guys,
new to the forum, just sold my 4x4 and looking for a 135. anyone ever done this? is it a case of buying in qld driving back with qld plates and handing them into the rta after blue slip etc? have tried a few cars in nsw but nobody wants to come to the price guide, which is understandable... i lost 7k on my 4x4 and 5k on my Evo 8, to get rid after being for sale for 3 months. its a buyers market! cheers for any info guys. |

Yes pretty straight forward... here are some pointers:
- Buy the car at agreed price... drive back to NSW or freight it down - Get the buyer to sign the back of the rego form with all that stuff on it... - Get the buyer to write up a quick 'invoice' saying you're now the owner of BMW 135i bearing rego xxxx and vin xxx - Get a blue slip done and fill out the application for registration - Purchase CTP (greenslip) - Go to the RTA to hand in 2 x QLD plates and get issued NSW plates... they'll give you a receipt for plates handed in - Email QLD RTA equivalent with a copy of your invoice AND receipt at NSW RTA of handing plates to cancel the [QLD] registration of the vehicle.. they'll send you a cheque refund enjoy |

Welcome mate!
As per bmroxm5- also consider getting 3rd party inspection unless you've gone to look at the car yourself? Check for accident Hx etc. 43K isn't a bad deal. Xenons are standard. Nav and sunroof are good options to have (they were my minimum requirement). I presume it's dealer if they're offering you freight. |

Thanks ippykaye! yeah its a BMW dealer I'm buying from. they said they'd get the car freighted here with QLD plates still on it, i just get it blue slipped and take it to the RTA and hand in the QLD plates and get NSW ones. and send qld a receipt to say the rego was cancelled and can claim on what was left on the Rego. was wondering if they can make plates on the spot? if they do i might just get a personal one ($160 not $440). I also called the BMW Toowoomba where it had all it services done, they confirmed it had been over serviced and had the HPFP and all 6 injectors done under warranty, they then put me through to the sales man who traded it in and he said it was in immac condition. its just had its rotors and pads done and has 4 new tyres
