It sounds like I can get blacklines without LED's, but not with. Is this the corrrect set below?

In the exact same situation, am very much looking to get my old 2008 taillights switched out for the better looking LCI lights however there would be no point if they do not work as normal. Is anyone able to clearly say Yes or No that the LCI for xenon will work with a halogen equipped car??

If you have pre-lci model with pre-lci tail lights then the tail lights have 3 horizontal led tubes (tail light on the right). And if you want to upgrade on lci tail lights (tail light on the left) there won't be problems with it. They should be PnP even if you have halogen model. Only lci halogen models have to "jump wire" in tail lights connectors to make them works.

Hey, did you end up installing them? I have a canadian '08 128i and I'm waiting on a reply from Schmeidmanns. If you've installed them, can you post pictures?

LCI Blackline kit BMW part# 63212225282 (two tail lights for xenon cars)

reposting... IF you guys want LCI Blacklines.... order the #282 kit. This works on US spec 128i's as well with halogens as long as you have a FR3 footwell module.

I guess you did not see my post #249... (also see my other later posts... like #259)

IF you want the LED tubes to light up... you need the blacklines for a Xenon car.

63217327273
63217327274

or the kit #63212225282 lci blacklines (for xenon cars). The 282 kit is a little bit cheaper than order the lights by themselves.

128i 2009 Vert Halogen Model

Hello everyone,

Could someone please confirm if an OEM LCI Taillight will work plug and play for a BMW 128i Convertible 2009 U.S. Model (my car originally came with halogen headlights and I bought it summer of 09)? I now have aftermarket xenon for my low-beams and fog lights. I would love to know if I can take out my original taillight and swap it in for an LCI OEM Taillight. I don’t want to code or buy any adapters.

Thanks a lot for the response.

Update: Black line model xenon tail lights work perfect. I did have a recall on my tail lights years ago I don’t know or remember what they did to my original tail lights (if they changed connections or whatever) However it should work for your car.

Thanks,

Sam

Can someone PLEASE confirm this-
i have a 125i E82 halogen coupe (so EU version not US version) and even through reading every forum there are still some conflicting advice. Dackelone says that the halogen pre lci 125i 135i US version the blackline zenon tails #282 are PnP, however the EU halogen pre lci versions you'll need a footwell module 3 upgrade and a harness cable.

Schmeidmanns said the same thing for the #282 xenon blackline tails. A few other members on this thread said you dont need anything they are plug and play on halogen pre lci model cars. But I couldn't workout if those people has the US 128i models.

Another seller here in Australia selling the xenon blackline tails #282 said that they will work on my 125i halogen as they said they work on ALL pre lci models both halogen or xenon etc. So theres conflicting views. I need to know difinitively from someone who has the same model as me and its worked without a FWM3 and harness and its just been PnP.

Thanks

I always thought that all US spec 1er's that the #282 Blackline led tail light kit was PnP, even for 128i's that came with halogen front headlights.

boostpak When you say "halogens" most members think headlights. But on your 125i(128i) late production you probably mean your tail light bulbs are also halogen and don't have the LCI led tubes. Correct ?

Recently I was contacted by user carscatscoffee15 he has a late production 128i (US spec) with LCI halogen tail lights. He ordered the #282 Blackline kit but the LED tubes do not light up. His car has the FRM3 footwell module.

I think he will need to use a jumper wire to make his blackline LED tubes light up. But IF anyone knows for sure... PLEASE chime in. I was also wondering IF the LED tubes could be made to work via car coding, like with Carly or some other App. Any thoughts ?

thanks,
Dackel

Turns out I have an FRM2 in my vehicle and I have gone ahead and ordered an FRM3 MAX Kuester (haven't been able to find much about this particular FRM as most of the threads mention the MAX Brose). Between this and the pin swap/soldering job (I've seen two different methods) I am hoping they work. My mechanic told me I had to run wires from the front of the car to the back to get them to work but I'm not sure if that's also another method on top of the ones covered on the forum.

My car came with stock halogen front headlights with LCI tail lights. I have since done the front xenon conversion.

However the LED tubes on my vehicle never lit up stock. On the new #282 LCI Blacklines, when plugged in with the existing harness only the rear bulbs turn on (not the LED ones like the ones Dackelone posted. I'm guessing I do need a cable jump for it to work

These are my harness set ups as well as the pin set up on my headlights

On the final shot of the rear of my vehicle the stock tail light is on the left with the Blackline being the one on the right.

Dack, thank you so much for your help and for replying to me even though there's a ton of threads on this! I ended up installing the FRM3 but had my local (and very trusted) BMW Indy shop do the coding and wiring needed. The person who did the job is meticulous and crafty in his work and did the retrofit proper without any pin swaps, soldered work, or spray painting the bulbs black (I believe I read this somewhere on this forum). He ended up wiring the lights from the FRM in the front and running new connections through the side panels all the way to the lights themselves.. however when he got the rear to work, the front AE/eyebrows ended up having issues.

Light bars light up when my DRLs are on and they look mean! Moving on to completing the back with the M Sport rear!

Once again, your correspondence has been greatly appreciated!
