Carbonfibermods.com genuine carbon fiber interior trim

Picked up these gorgeous hand laid carbon fiber trim pieces from Andy (1Addicts memebr roll_the_dice) @ carbonfibermods.com. These are OEM trim pieces wrapped in genuine carbon fiber, not overlays. I can’t recommend his work or customer service enough; terrific transaction and amazing craftsmanship.

I previously wrapped my wood trim in carbon vinyl and honestly thought it came out pretty damn good. But even the best vinyl wrap in the world can’t stand next to the real deal. The gloss and depth absolutely jump out at you and the weave is mesmerizing. Puts a smile on my face every time I step in the car. Everyone says the beauty of real carbon is hard to capture in pics, and that’s true, but here goes anyway:

Already had my steering wheel, shift boot, and e-brake boot wrapped in Alcantara by Coby Wheel but decided to take a stab at wrapping a few other pieces myself. It was a major pain but I’m fairly happy with the results. Next on the list is the instrument cover (ala 1M) and then the arm rest. At that point I have to restrain myself before I go too far with the Alcantara.

idrive surround trim piece:

Head Unit and Heat/AC trim:

Have a flat bottom M technic steering wheel on order from Ledermanz at the moment, so my current Alcantara wheel will be up for sale soon. PM me if interested. Currently has a red Alcantara stripe @ 12:00 which is almost a perfect match for the Coral red leather. Also have black Alcantara band which I can swap on.

Thx for looking.

Can't beat carbon fiber and alcantara. They complement each other so well. Do you know if they do custom pieces? I've been wanting to do carbon fiber cowl and filter covers.

Would love to see how you do the instrument cover and armrest if you do it. Also, let me know how the instrument cover comes off. Thanks

Will do, sourcing the alcantara right now. Instrument cover comes off in 60 seconds. Just a few screws under the top edge and then the instruments themselves can be pulled forward. After that it's 3 or 4 screws to remove the cover itself from the dash. Very easy.
1M comes with an alcantara cover but has the orange stitch which I felt would be out of place in my car. I plan to just basically wrap mine with no stitching at all.
I'll probably outsource the armrest as I think you have to stitch a few sections together to do it right. Swinging by the upholstery shop this weekend.

Super easy except for the center console trim which requires you to remove the entire center console.

Yeah, like anything else, after you've done it once it takes you about half the time it did the first time.

Smile Steering Wheel

Hi! Just bought a 128i and I really like your Alcantara Wheel. Was that a DIY project or did you have somebody do it? Thanks!

Hi, If you read half way down his post he says he had it done by Coby Wheels (see below). I have also had Coby Wheels do my boots and wheel and they do great work.

"Already had my steering wheel, shift boot, and e-brake boot wrapped in Alcantara by Coby Wheel but decided to take a stab at wrapping a few other pieces myself. It was a major pain but I’m fairly happy with the results. Next on the list is the instrument cover (ala 1M) and then the arm rest. OP, Those panels look great! Nice work!

Funny this old thread of mine is being resurrected now. I haven't been on the boards (or in a BMW) since way back then but I just picked up an E92 M3 so I'm back around.

Anyway, I use 3M 90 High Strength Spray Adhesive to glue down large flat areas and Loctite Super Glue (blue cap-Liquid Gel) to glue down corners, edges, or areas that need extra hold.

Unfortunately I don't believe Alcantara is available anymore. I used to get it by the yard from Gulf Fabrics in FL but they told me that Alcantara has chosen to only supply to car manufacturers going forward. Sucks.
