Frankfurt IAA Show Coverage / Discussion
Here are Motor Trend's pictures from Frankfurt. It looks like they only have a red one there. I would love to see some pictures of a different color at some point.

Sorry this is taking so long folks. The 135i actually debuts tomorrow :iono: so all I got today were pics of the 123d in... you guessed it, Sedona Red I promise to have pics posted before I rest tonight
Oh, a couple of quick impressions... Sedona Red: Hard to describe but I like it  It looks metallic but not overly so (if that makes any sense) I'll have more tomorrow on it. Interior space: I'm 5'6" and with me sitting up front, I can comfortably sit in back. Another guy there, who was 5"8" sat in the back comfortably as well. My 6' friend adjusted the front seat for himself and with me in back my toe were about an inch under the back of the seat. Head room in back might be a problem for anyone over 5'6"-5'8" as I could sit up straight and touch the top of my head to the headliner. Cupholders: I confirmed with a BMW rep that there will be a US only (for now) removable cupholder (Just like the 6 series one) for 135's equipped with IDrive. Those without IDrive will get 2 in the center console instead of just 1. I'll post up more impressions and the pics sometime tonight so be patient with me Thanks, Drill

The only 1 coupe there today was the 123d. There will be a black 128 and a Sedona Red 135 there tomorrow

NYT/ In shaping its future, BMW has decided to conjure up a ghost from its past. The new BMW 1-Series coupe, announced officially Tuesday at the Frankfurt Motor Show, evinces the best attributes of the vaunted 2002 models of 40 years ago: small, light, quick and powerful. Just as Baby Boomers, who elevated the 2002 to iconic status, have grown a dress or suit size (or two) over the years, so has BMW’s entry-level standard of recent years, the 3-Series. The 1-Series cuts it back down to size. The 1-Series is small enough to classify as a compact car, yet reasonably roomy for four — although the two backseat passengers might appreciate the front seats moved forward a click or two to better accommodate them. It is rear-wheel drive, with a five-link rear suspension and a double-joint spring-strut tiebar axle setup in front. Though BMW wasn’t offering test rides, the company promises handling will be on a par with any BMW offering. An M Sports Package for optimized handling (better traction, less body roll) will be available on the top-of-the-series 135i. The best news for enthusiasts is found in the engine compartment: Coming to America are a choice of either a perfectly competent 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder, good for 230 horsepower, or, for the 135i, a version of the same engine, only with twin turbochargers that boost the power to an even 300. BMW says the 135i will have a top speed of 155 miles per hour, and will be able to go from a standstill to 60 m.p.h. in just 5.3 seconds. The company says both 1-Series models will offer good gas mileage and will belch out very little in the way of tailpipe emissions. The engine features a hybrid-like stop-start feature at rest. European versions, which get diesel engines Americans won’t get, also have electric power steering. The 128i and 135i go on sale next spring in the U.S. No word yet on pricing, but they have to be less than a 3-Series with comparable power. Less? Yes, but not a lot less. |

1,000 posts and all I got is this crappy Bronze Diesel!
OK, I got it off my chest. No offense 123d. I guess everyone's figured out that the N/A model debuts tomorrow- they could have brought it out today but nooooo, 911/2007 belonged to the X6- and the 1-er debut is the Euro diesel version. One thing is apparent- Sedona Red is bronze. I was wrong...they didn't darken it. If Sedona Red looks in person looks like it does in these Frankfurt pics, someone at BMW has just won a tin cup and cane award. It looks awful. imho. Oh, and thanks BMW for pimping the N/A audience with another delay. |

Sedona Red does look awfully flat in the pictures I'm seeing. I think the car looks great both with and without the M-Sport body kit. I used to think the Coupe wasn't much of an improvement on the Hatch, but I'm beginning to feel differently. This is a great looking car with real presence, despite its size.

The close up of Sedona Red reminds me of the MazdaSpeed Miata Velocity Red - almost looks great on the web, something not quite right in person. can't wait for more!!! |

I think the red is growing on me!
Wish we were getting the 123d. I am happy to hear a 128 will arrive tomorrow, as well--I didn't know that was expected. Black will be really nice to see. Although Alpine White would be best! |

I hate to start an argument, but that color isn't even close to bronze. It's a burnt orange. A variation of Flamenco Red Metallic maybe.
This is bronze:

i believe they are referring to the color of the metallic chips in the paint ... they look rather golden to me.
not my thing but i can appreciate why someone else would love it. i've never considered blue before but i'm starting to warm up to le mans blue ... hoping to see it offered. |

Well this color reminds me of the Habanero Red on the 06-07 Civic Si or the Autumn Copper on the Infiniti FX...well maybe a little brighter but that could be due to the indoor lighting and flash on the camera
