Sunroof or no sunroof?

I have driven plenty of cars with sunroof but never owned one with it. Question is should I get it? I am more performed orientated so I am worried I might regret getting sunroof.

Sorry if it sounds harsh but this topic has been extensively discussed.

I prefer a sunroof, despite the added weight.

There are simply some instances where a window can mean too much wind, whereas an open roof is just right. Also, it helps cool the car down faster on warm days.

I like sunroofs, and will get my 135i with one no matter what. I agree with vina: there are just some times when you want fresh air but don't want to open a window (usually when traveling faster than about 60).

I want one, but hopefully there will be a delete option for those who don't.

You can tell it's slow in the forums when a topic that has already been discussed keeps getting brought up and people continue to reply to it.

And I'm new here so I'll jump in with my 2 cents. I have an E36 and E46 M3s both with sunroof delete main reason is I do a lot of track events and I fit much better in a car without a sunroof with a helmet on. My E36 has been made into a full striped down race car and it was much easier when putting a cage in not to have to deal with a sunroof. so to finish off my 2 cents I hope there will be a sunroof delete option available for my 135i

i'm only 5'11" and my helmet touches the roofliner in a e46 with sunroof. i have never seen an e46 m3 for sale that didn't have a sunroof, although i think you could order it that way.

did you buy your e46 without a sunroof, or did you go back and delete it? how much difference did it make to your headroom?

It was ordered with the sunroof delete option. When the E36 m3 was ordered with the sunroof delete option my dealer was a little hesitant because they were afraid if I didn't take it it would be hard to sell. But now my family and I have a very good long standing relationship with our dealer.

This is supposed to be a performance version, that's why it has the hot motor and 6 pot brakes. It would make little sense to not have a delete option.

BMW should take note that this Delete issue will not die in this forum so they should take it seriously and offer it. I plan on euro delivery so the dealer should not be so worried about being left with a car that their weak ass sales people can't sell. Like we have never seen a loss leader in the Sunday paper, "One only at this price, vin # xyz"

Ok, I've had my turn at kicking the carcass now.

I HATE sunroofs in sportscars (headroom loss, weight gain, leaks, rattles, broken drive motors, etc.)...
