1-Series Coupe US Debut to be held at the NAIAS
Judging from the comment made at the end of the 1 Coupe video at http://bmw-web.tv/ the US debut will be at the Detriot Auto Show and not The L.A. Auto show as suspected.
Dates for NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) 2008 have been announced. Press Preview will be Sunday, January 13 - Tuesday, January 15, 2008 Industry Preview will be Wednesday, January 16 & Thursday, January 17, 2008 Charity Preview will be Friday, January 18, 2008 Public Show will be Saturday, January 19 - Sunday , January 27, 2008 |

Excellent find! That doesn't give dealers a lot of time to get orders in, though.
BMW Engineer[??]: "It will be available in Europe on 24 November. We will start with the 1-Series Coupe in the US for the first time next year. We will have the car in Spring next year in the US market." At least we'll have the Eurpoean debut before the end of the year, with all of the attendant press drives and comparison tests. I am eager to see CAR or EVO put the 135i through the wringer. Hopefully they'll do a comparo with the new M3. EVO has done less-crazy things in the past. |

Dude, those BMW-web TV guys pissed me off They took so much time with Herr Radomski that I didn't get to talk to him again on Wednesday And to top it all off, they even cut me out of all of their shots All you see is my shoe at 1:24 and "mah bellay" at 1:35 :iono:
Oh yeah, and NOW I have to figure out how to get to Detroit

Two things
-They referred to the 1 series coupe as the "Entry" level BMW, and I know the CEO or someone important did not reffer to this car as the entry level. Does this mean maybe a drop in suspected pricing? -Just because they said that they would see eachother at the NAIAS, doesn't mean it will debut there!

I think it's that plus this quote that has people (including me) believing we'll see an NAIAS debut: "We will start with the 1-Series Coupe in the US for the first time next year. We will have the car in Spring next year in the US market."

The german gentleman being interviewed is the Project Mgr. for the 1-Series, I am certain he knows far more regarding the 1-Series than the Company CEO. BMW-webtv is fairly new and it is BMWs way to attract younger buyers via the web. If the car was going to debut in L.A. there would have been some mention of it. Also, with the 1er coupe coming to the US in the Spring of '08, November maybe too early to debut it. When the E90 was debuted at the NY Auto show (April) it launched shortly after (May). |

If Coupe at Detroit.. when will the Cab appear?
I would think USA dealers are wanting it before the start of summer...
Did BMW Debut the Coupe and Cab versions of the 6'er at Detroit at the same time? Jan 2004 with sales starting that spring? |

With the NY Auto in April that is when I would suspect the convertible to debut. Just a guess...

Did anyone notice in the video with "Mr. Radomsky" that as the camera is showing various angles of the car, when they go to the interior shot, the interior is NOT that of a 1-series as we have come to know it, but rather or a 3-series, with the dual-binnacle dashboard, a wide swath of aluminum trim across the width of the dash and extending over the area around the shift lever. Must be an error that was made while the film was being edited!

He also said 306hp.... not 300hp... did he slipped? Is that the real hp bmw has been hiding.
This is disappointing I was hoping to see it at the LA Auto Show in Nov.

Do we now 100% that the car won't be at the LA Auto Show?

that's how information grapevine is going through... the interviewer guy asked when he's gonna see 1couper in dealers...and was answered nov 24 in e.u and spring in u.s
he was just hypothetically asking... detriot... we all know 1couper will start in 2008... did it mean to say 1couper will be debut just right in 2008... usually 2008 models are introduced... by 2007... well... as most believe... we should expect debut as late as possible huh, shouldnt we... just 2008... i dont know... but... if it comes out early...that would make all happy... just make believe... NAIAS look more privilege... |
