Suspension / coilover options

Hi guys,

Looking at importing some coilovers and suspension parts from the US of A. I have contacts in a few parts of the US who can ship to me. Question is, which US based companies have you found that offers KW's and the like at the best price.

Look forward to your suggestions

From the quick research I've done on prices of coilovers, especially KW, the price disparity between a set of KWs from the US and set of KWs from BMR in Australia is less than $300. As they weigh approx 53lb according to turner, shipping is about $300 from the US also.

I guess if you take into account exchange rates you might save maximum AUD$100 from the more expensive sets (e.g. clubsports) but in my opinion, you'd be better off buying them local and getting some kind of local warranty/support.

I thought my pricing was a bit more competitive than that....

Turner sells for $1,650 + $286 in shipping... they are currently offering 10% off, making the total landed cost $1,771 excluding GST & Duty

BMR website price is $1,890.. happy to negotiate with forum members and offer free delivery etc.

I got a set of Bilstein PSS10's here locally from the Heasmans the distributor for approximately $200 more than it would have cost from Turner in the US for the parts and shipping. Also if it gets stuck with customers because it valued over $900 then you will pay duty and GST on top of that.

I was happy to pay the $200 for the local warranty and support.

There are still plenty of things i buy OS but it just worked out better to buy here in this case.

Same here. I purchased a set Ohlins R&T locally from http://www.prospeedracing.com.au for my Z. Costed about $250 difference than OS and was shipped pretty quick. They sell KW and Bilsteins.

Thanks for that link, Ohlins are only about $100 more than buying overseas.

I have heard that this website is a 'front' for a company which holds no iventory but basically once you pay for the goods and then they place they order.

This is normally how most small businesses operate but you start hearing of guys waiting months for the items with no response when buying through 1xracing.

Google them and see what pops up

Thanks for your responses. I will buy locally once I'm ready and I'm sure Stu will be on the money.
