B&M Shifter - which direction?

Hoping someone who has installed this can help since B&M themselves don't seem to know which way the shifter should be installed.

The instructions indicate rearward but after having a shop install the lever, it seems to me that neutral is slightly rearward, 1/3/6 are pretty centered, and 2/4/6 are leaned really far rearward.

So which way does the rod lean when installed: forward (with nut on right side) or rearward (with nut on left side)?
