Sometime I think I should be driving my caged racecar to work in the winter...

The smaller wheel fit over the brake would be 17", won't it?

Even through tire rack, a set of 17" and runflat winters with TPMS sensors still run just under $2K.

Likely 17" wheels of some type, as 18" winter tyres are not cheap.

Current rim/tyre
Winter 17" rim (not steelies) / non-stud winters (maybe 225 kumho KW19)
Summer 18" or 19" rim (8" & 9" wide) / wider tyres (maybe MX or 615)
Track 17" rim (something light) / Treaded Dot-r (maybe R888)
Autocross Stock rim / the widest Hooser they can fit.
Oh god will I be speading a lot of money

I'm in Montreal, and I'm driving my 1 around. However, if it is really bad around, I'll probably leave it at home.

Man, these german cars are built for cold weather. It's a part of the enjoyment!

My snow tires are supposed to arrive tomorrow, just in time for a Saturday trip up to Algonquin to put in some break-in kms.

I'm getting some Nokian winters and putting them on the stock M wheels. I don't really plan on using them in the summer.

It's going to be a fun winter!!

Choices

1 Buy a good winter car/suv, store the 1
2 Buy a cheap second hand winter car, store the 1
3 Buy good rims/and runflat winter tires and drive the 1
Note: I got the tire ins and it covers what ever I put on the car for 5 years! This will impact a decision for some.
4 Buy steel rims/cheap winter tires and drive the 1

What is everyone else doing in Canada? And say what your winter is.

I'll be driving with these. I'll be interesting to see how the 18s on 225s will handle the deep snow. If it gets really bad I'll take the FJ cruiser instead.

who also thinks that posters from sunny locations should be slapped for rubbing it in?

P.S. Dietrich will get to play in the snow this winter. Everybody else better stay the flock away.

I'll drive my 128i on 16" rims with Bridgestone Blizzaks LM-22 runflat...up to now, no snow but in dry and wet conditions they aren't bad at all...but I miss my sport pack 18"...in april it will be a new car all over again.

I work from home so for me it's easier...if it is too bad outside (and beleive me last winter here in MTL was bad) I'll just stay home and let my clients and my assitant come to me!
