CBC News story just now: shortage of winters because of Quebec
Shortages of winter tires reported everywhere in Ontario in stores large and small because of the new law in Quebec.
Glad Gill helped me get mine on! |

LOL! You can keep all the Winters up there in Quebec as far as I'm concerned.

Ahha, i'm in Montreal and the other day the guy from canadian tire didn't even want to install my tires from tirerack ws-60, he said those are bad...And then suggested some moto masters! It's funny how they hire dumb asses.

I got my set of Winter's this past weekend from Steelcase tires in Markham... Wow are those guys are overwhelmed with work right now (I heard they go through 80 cars on a weekend these days, we were waiting a long time, but the end result almost made it ok) - that being said they have a HUUUGE inventory of winter tires... they had rims and tires to fit a 1 with several options in rims (with bmw centre caps).
I picked up a hot set of 17inch alloys on Gislaved tires for an amazing price... $1400 including taxes, installation and storage of my summer tires. I'd don't recommend shops very often but these guys are fantastic (just get there super early on weekends - like 6am or you will be waiting like a chump all day like I did). I got a great quote from Gill on tirerack but with the current currency exchange it would have cost be almost $1800 and I still would have had to install and store my summer tires - I do appreciate Gill's great customer service. |

CBC Radio drive-time interviewed an Active Green+Ross franchisee this afternoon. He says the big shortage is in 205/55-16s. 1er owners in the GTA should be safe. :-)
