135i Rear Brake Questions

I just replaced the rear brakes: Rotors were Stoptech slotted, pads were Cool Carbons. A few questions - mainly because I can hear some dragging.

1) Do you need to reuse the OEM shims? I'm thinking I'm too thick with the following between the caliper:
OEM Shim | anti-squeal | pad (with metal backing) | rotor | pad (with metal backing) | anti-squeal | OEM Shim
I must say I coated the entire back of the pad with anti-squeal.

2) Do you need to adjust the parking brake when changing rotors?

Thanks!

Oh, FYI, on the 2010 MY the sensor part number changed in 3/10. Mine is a 9/09 build, so I got the wrong sensor from ECS and my local dealership.

After inspecting the old rotors, it appears as if there's a slight lip on the inside of the hat from the e-brake. I suppose this indicates that the e-brake shoes had been adjusted out to compensate, and need to be adjusted back in. There's a DIY here that is pretty easy to follow. However, it would have been nice to have done it while the ass was in the air and the wheels were off.

So did adjusting the ebrake fix your issue?

Haven't had time to address it yet. Fortunately, I have another vehicle to drive in the meantime.

Yes and no. Yes, adjusting the e-brake solved part of the problem. However, when I forcefully yanked the old rotors off, I ended up bending the backing plate that holds the e-brake pads. There were definite rub/wear marks on the outer edge of the plate from the new rotors. I would have had to pull the hub in order to replace the plate, so I ended up hitting both e-brake pad mounting locations with a hammer.

So far so good. I have to fine-tune the e-brake adjustment since it requires most of the lever travel to hold the car. However, I'm done for now.
