bird droppings
I went on vacation for two weeks and when I got back I just had to wash my car. It was sitting outside on the driveway during my vaca time. There were a couple of bird droppings on it and one of them must have been there for a while because it left a stain. Anyway of removing the damage it caused?

If it's been on there too long you're screwed. You can try having it wet sanded/buffed but if it has eaten through the clear coat it will require repaint to correct.

Try checking out detailingbliss.com for tips..
Make sure you know what you are doing w/ any buffing or wetsanding. I work at an auto detail shop and you won't believe the kind of "detail work" we have to correct. |

When you get a bird poop on your paint just put a wet sponge (use just water) over it and leave it there for about 15 minutes... Then you can just rinse poop(s) away with water.

Thanks for the tip. Scratch-X 2.0 worked perfectly.

I would recommend Mothers Cleaner Wax to start - this did the trick for me on a couple of similar situations.
I would avoid Mequiar's Scratch-X or Swirl-X - I tried Swirl-X by hand and that crap gave the finish even more swirls. |

I just want to second Scratch-X 2.0 as well. I got rid of 3 dime-sized bird poop etches in my Jet Black paint. Scratch-X 2.0 was very impressive. The funny thing is, they dont market the product as a solution to bird poop. But it works.
After gently rubbing in the Scratch-X 2.0, then wiping clean, then repeat on the area i missed, then wipe clean. Then I used NuFinish on top of that. Gone!!
