Phil, how often do you replace pads with a new one (versus wash them)? e.g. 1/2 car, 3 cars?
I've always thought of them as fairly disposable, and toss them after a couple details, in lieu of washing and reusing... Thanks! Larry |

for sealants or waxes I usually just label them and put them in a zip lock. they have no abrasives so it will not scratch your paint. At the min I would clean polishing/compounding pads after a few panels with the foam pad brush. I would say as a rule you should clean them before the next detail. I do have customers that use pads once and then throw them out. |

i would use an uber glass mf towel (2) spritz some glass cleaner on the towel then proceed to clean the windows. then use another dry clean glass mf to follow up and buff. you will have a clean interior window. |

Phil I have a Q for you. I noticed today - that on my last wax job I still have some dried white wax in the seam where the rear spoiler meets the trunk top part. You can only see the dried wax when you are looking at the rear spoiler from the front of the car.
What is teh best way to remove this hardened wax? I tired a micro fiber towel and an old credit car. It is really in there!! Thanks |

what would you recommend as a "starter set up" for someone who doesn't have any detailing experience. I've wanted to buy some stuff for a while now I just don't know what's absolutely necessary and whats geared more for the advanced/pro detailer.

I'm fairly new to detailing and I was wonder if there is any benefit from polishing your car by hand? I'm looking at getting a Porter Cable polisher but not any time soon. I know polishing by hand will be tough work but am I wasting my time because I won't see any benefits because I'm not as strong as Superman?
Thanks for you help. |

I use: -Turtlewax Ice carwash or sometimes Optimum No Rinse if I'm away from running water (meets/shows) and I have a bunch of microfiber towels and one of those Jelly blades for drying. -Turtlewax Ice Spray wax -P21S for the rims (1ers have terrible brake dust issues) -Optimum Tire Shine -Windex for the windows -Armorall interior leather and vinyl wipes. Basically most of the stuff you can buy at Walmart or Autozone. I'd like to move up to some better quality stuff for chemicals and washing/drying tools (mitts, wheel washers, ect) possibly adding more in the waxing department maybe even an orbital eventually but yeah as for a budget, I don't mind spending a little bit where it counts but if I was replacing/adding in 1 large order I think definitely under $100 for supplies and maybe $150ish or less for an orbital. |
