Air ducts
Hi!
I'm going to set up air ducts on my m and searching for cooling plates.. i've found these ones http://store.bimmerworld.com/carbon-...tes-p1412.aspx and these as a kit http://1m-raze.revozport.com/1mbrake_duct_kit.html but they are made of carbon and too expensive.. does any one have an idea where to buy cheaper analogs? I would be much appreciated for any advices.. |

Here are some pics of modified stock brake plates.
air intake is built under the oil radiators and air flow comes up to the center of the brake rotors and dissipates easily and also cools down the wheel hubs... Last edited by atv12; 07-09-2012 at 09:32 AM.. |

what does DIY stand for? do it yourself?))
if yes, then it is hard to do by yourself without special knowledge, tools and skills.. but in general yes, that's custom made brake air cooling ducts.. |

hmmm, I am not sure if I would make a hole in the airducts to the oil / secondary water cooler. If I paid attention well during physics lessons air goes the way of less resistance. In this case this means it will go through the open hole in direction of the brakes instead of being pressed through the cooler... meaning you will loos cooling capacity. Curious if after your experience on the track

Those revosport ones were designed for show not go. You want to direct the cooling air into the center of the vented disc for effective cooling. All the revosport ones do is direct cooling air at the inside surface of the rotor. Useless for actual track use.

What's your impression on those ducts? Did you use stock fluid?..

Marat, neither that nor the other... it was overboost... my engine switched to safe mode, then i shut it down and started again and went normally then! oil temparature was 130-140 as usual..
finally with the brakes (thanks God) i had no problem! I put hawk ht-10 pads on the front, and hawk hp+ on the rear, goodridge braided hoses and motul 5.1 fluid... fantastic stop and clear initial brake... and not a single hint of brake overheating.. i guess it is a myth that our brakes have a temperature sensor and overheating protection... |

OP -- if you do a search, you'll find my thread about the Bimmerworld backing plates and how I revised my front bumper to run ducts. Neil |
