Dinan Billet Short Shifter - 135i N54 DIY?

Hello,

I've been searching threads for these questions- it seems all over the place.

Does anyone have experience with
Dinan Billet Short-Shifter Kit
D550-1005
https://www.dinancars.com/product/d5...-e46-m-e39-m5/

I've been searching threads and people have said the Dinan SSK just reduces the throw by 8% (which conflicts with what is advertised). Did they update the SSK?

Also, for a DIY- do you really need to remove the midpipes and drive shaft? For the 135i specifically, I've seen yes's/no's. Really wonder if this is really a 1 hour labor or a PITA; if I should do it myself or just send it to the shop.

Thanks!

All you have to access is the rear clip where it attaches to the bottom of the shifter under the car.

All the rest of the work would be done inside the car.

I don't have the Dinan, but I did install a UUC and did that entirely without removing any parts but the undertray (I think...but I was doing other things that day too).

I did have to bend the heat shield out of the way to get my hand in there but it bends right back.

Thanks, Ric! I installed it yesterday evening. The installation did require some techniques and I will post a DIY for the community soon.

Appreciate it!
