W-rated rubber in the front/V rated rears
Hi guys, do you see a problem with Goodyear Eagle NCT5 ROF (RunOnFlat) tires for a 2010 135i 17" option that are W-rated in the front and V-rated in the back?
They are replacing an identical set which were V-rated all around. ( also NCT5 RunFlats) |

HATE the NCT-5 runflats. Absolutely no lifespan in them whatsoever.
Shouldn't be an issue though. They're just speed rated and they exceed the limiter so no worries at all. |

usually you should shy away from different side-wall ratings, especially if you are tracking the car (in which case you should run away from these tires in general).
I don't think it will cause a problem, but you wil have two different sidewall stiffnesses. |

Personally, I liked the NCTs on my 128i and doubt there would be any problem mixing W & V rated tires. But be aware that the 225/45R17 size has been discontinued, so future replacement of your rear tires will probably not be possible.

Just went to Tire Rack online and there is an all- new Goodyear NCT5 A RunOnFlat tire with sizes including the 225/45 R17. The price is significantly more than the Pirelli PZero RF, which I think looks like a good value.
Overall I was happy with the original OEM NCT5 tires, i estimate lifespan as 20k miles on the rears, 30 k miles on the fronts..approximately... |
