W-rated rubber in the front/V rated rears

Hi guys, do you see a problem with Goodyear Eagle NCT5 ROF (RunOnFlat) tires for a 2010 135i 17" option that are W-rated in the front and V-rated in the back?

They are replacing an identical set which were V-rated all around. ( also NCT5 RunFlats)

HATE the NCT-5 runflats. Absolutely no lifespan in them whatsoever.

Shouldn't be an issue though. They're just speed rated and they exceed the limiter so no worries at all.

usually you should shy away from different side-wall ratings, especially if you are tracking the car (in which case you should run away from these tires in general).

I don't think it will cause a problem, but you wil have two different sidewall stiffnesses.

Personally, I liked the NCTs on my 128i and doubt there would be any problem mixing W & V rated tires. But be aware that the 225/45R17 size has been discontinued, so future replacement of your rear tires will probably not be possible.

Interesting - i had a dodgy set. Goodyear offered a full replace on mine after 9000km when the rears had worn flat and the fronts had become completely edge worn.

They booked me in to a tyre store and got them replaced with Firestones.

Maybe I was lucky as I replaced mine after 24,000 miles (38,000 km) on the rears with 3/32" tread left. I hated to throw away the fronts which were only 1/2 worn, but couldn't find the discontinued rear NCTs at a decent price. They gave a decent ride and performed quite well in both wet and dry for a "touring summer tire".

Just went to Tire Rack online and there is an all- new Goodyear NCT5 A RunOnFlat tire with sizes including the 225/45 R17. The price is significantly more than the Pirelli PZero RF, which I think looks like a good value.

Overall I was happy with the original OEM NCT5 tires, i estimate lifespan as 20k miles on the rears, 30 k miles on the fronts..approximately...
