"Stuff" in the hood leaking out

There some "grease" or "oil" type fluid coming out of 3 holes on the underside of the hood, at the front. I don't know how to describe the consistency of the stuff, it's kinda sticky.
I took some pic:

This one is showing it's leaking out onto the hood:



This one of the "source" of this stuff, not a lot is coming out from this hole tho:


the following 2 pics show the two holes where the hood line begins. these two holes are the Major source of the stuff:



Anyone know what this stuff is? and where it it coming from? There's No sign of this stuff in the engine bay. it seems as if it's from the inside of the hood. What could be in there!? Shall I take it into the dealer?

Cosmoline used to anti-salt prep the car for its ocean voyage. No worries, other than it's not the easist to remove.

Oh! that's what it is... how come it's "Inside" the hood? they dip the car in that stuff or something!?
I guess now I've to go search on the detailing forum and see how to remove it. Thanks for the help!

Yep, I had the same stuff on the lower lip of my hood near where it meets the headlight and also along the bottom edge of the hood; it could be seen when you opened the hood. Anyway, I didn't know what it was and the stuff on the outside was a concern to me that the paint might be damaged. Anyway, I took it back to the dealer and they took one look at it and said it was cosmoline and called their detail man who had some type of professional paint cleaner and took it right off. It won't hurt the paint, it just looks bad, but will come off with no damage to the paint at all.

Considering it's summertime, plus, you are in sometimes-hot SoCal, the odds are in your favor, the cosmoline should leach-out in a few weeks. Good luck.

I'm not really going that fast, I'm sure I'm below 100 :P
it's probably just so hot here in SoCal, the comosline becomes more liquidy or something.

Now that I know it's comosline, I'm not worry that it'd damage the paint at all. I mean, they put that stuff there to protect the paint. still. it looks ugly and I'm sure dirt will stick to it real good. gonna have it washed tomorrow.

I just plugged the holes with some paper towel for around a month and replaced the plugs daily. It seemed to do the trick. No dripping anymore

Its called cavity wax, and is injected / sprayed into all sheet-metal body cavities at the end of the paint process, for corrosion protection, as there is no paint inside these cavities, only e-coat (electrocoat).

Cars which are shipped by sea are also covered with a wax coating, to prevent paint damage as a result of salt spray and other contaminants. The VPCs (Vehicle Processing Centres) then de-wax the cars with a high temperature, high pressure spray. I'm not sure if any solvents or detergents are added.

yeah its annoying...after a year I still have it dripping from my doors and onto my sidskirts.

It washes right off, but what a PIA. I had it in the door jambs and under the hood. I took some pre-cleaner and wiped the jambs and underhood. It works for a little bit. You just have to stay on top of it.
