I am probably making closer to the 700nm than the 600... might as well give it a try and see.

Do you still have the stock DMFW or was it toast?

The 550i clutch disk is unsprung. That would be a nightmare with a single mass flywheel.

I had an issue with a slave cylinder failure shortly after the install, but other than that it has been perfect.

Well just an update for you guys that are apprehensive to get this clutch fitted.

I've been running mine for 7000km now and making 350-360rwk with no issues, only sometimes when the clutch is cold it might slip for a split second but that's because of the stupid torque I'm making, but otherwise than that still going strong and still nice and soft like oem stock clutch feel.

Hi, I'm running stock tune with OEM DMFW.
Switched to the 550 clutch about 1000km with steel pivot pin.
Can't tell the difference from the standard 1M clutch in terms of pedal feel..
No slippage with gear changes.

Think this is the best compromise between comfort and performance i have experienced so far.
Hope this helps !

sure doest, thanks, not feeling so worried now,550i clutch ordered yesterday, the mechanic is going to visually check the dual mass flywheel to see if i need a new one as he has been quoted nearly £1000 for it, but he is trying to find if he can get it cheaper

Weird my slave AND slave master failed DIRECTLY after installing. Otherwise, so far so good, and is holding fine.

When my slave failed, the mechanic put it back together and it worked, but we replaced it anyway. He mentioned that it has a plastic housing, but he couldn't find a source for a better one. I wonder if a slipping clutch generates enough heat to deform the housing.

Have you noticed a creaking sound with a metalic pivot pin instead of the platic one ? I have a brass pivot pin I installed at the same time I did the 550i clutch, and the clutch operation got a bit noisy since then. It could be just the stiffer spring doing that noise as well or just me xD

The creaking noise is your self adjusting clutch mechanism combined with the fingers being depressed on the pressure plate maybe they weren't lubed properly?

My slave literally exploded, maybe it was misaligned I'll never really know but still it's a weird coincidence

Hey guys,
So I ordered the clutch you’ve all been discusing here on ECS tuning: (ECStuning.com - ES#: 1897635)
The shop that has installed all my upgrades and manages my car for the last 7 years told me they are having trouble fitting the new disc.
They told me its a lot thicker than the old one I have and once its installed, there is no clearance left and so the clutch remains engaged.
I am baffled by this as I had read a lot of the comments herr that said it was a direct fit for the 1M!
The new plate does fit, the problem apparently, is the thickness of the new disc.
Does anyone have any insight into this?
Here is a pic of the two clutch discs; the one on top is the old one, and the one below the new one.
Thanks!
