Inlet Upgrades

Hi guys, I've been thinking about getting the inlets upgrade for my 135i (likely the OEM Location ones) and have read that the gains will depend on tuning and boost?

https://bmwtuning.co/bmw-n54-upgrade...outlets-guide/

There were some brands that were recommended too like VRSF, BMS and Masata. Not sure what should we be looking for to decide?

I am currently running the MHD tune, upgraded CP and BMS intakes, not sure if I would see much gains with the upgraded inlets?

Thanks Mike

In your opinion do you think that the relocated ones do make a significant difference compared to the stock location inlets? Have there been any issues with the BMS ones?

No issues with BMS. On stock turbos, stock location is more than enough

I recommend RB inlets, I had VRSF and had rubbing issues, switched to RB and they fit perfect. Rob had them designed and fitted on a 135i so they fit better on our cars as there's less space compared to the 335i. They're narrower and angled better in places they need to be in order to avoid rubbing issues.

Ahh thanks man, will check it out.

Did you see much gains after getting them? What other mods to you have?

I have the DAW stage 2 turbo's, FBO, and custom tune they were required for the turbo. TBH they won't provide any additional hp gains on stock turbo's, unless you're planning on running E85 and pushing the stockers to 20+ PSI. The stock inlets just aren't restrictive enough on a OTS tune from MHD or JB4. You might gain a bit of efficiency, but not enough to justify the cost/install time. You might as well save up for upgraded turbo's then replace them both.
