Am from St.Louis area also, got mine from the dealer, and with BMW CLUB discount it was a great price. I would check around--but went with the dealer as have a good relationship there. And no it does not just bolt on; the past axle pipe will need to be cut, and the new one either bolted or welded on. I went with bolt on and the fit, finish and placement was/is great. You will love the PE exhaust--deep, mellow, and not racer-boy-ricer-raucious. Good luck and let us know how it all goes.

^+1 - bought the one on my 128i from the dealer with BMWCCA discount and mounted it with help from a fellow CCA club member. Measure carefully, use blue tape to mark the cut, and then either have it welded or use the supplied clamp to join the muffler to your existing pipe. Takes less than an hour if you have all your tools lined up, etc. There is a DIY at http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450937.

The PE for the 135i comes with more piping AND a resonator delete pipe which you can opt to install or not to. So in short, if you choose to install the y-pipe (resonator delete pipe) then there is cutting involved; otherwise if you choose to install just the axle-back, it's a direct bolt-on with no cutting involved.
Lastly, I wouldn't buy the 128i exhaust considering it comes with about 3-5" of total piping so it would require you to cut in the wrong place on the 135i. When I got mine they had been running a deal for about 6 months and many of us bought it for around $800 new. After that, they sold out, demand went up and pricing went back up beyond the 1k mark. Not sure what it is going for today. |

Do you happen to have a 135i around with the exhaust installed? I am debating on the exhaust but I spend 2 hours a day cruising at 80 mph so I definitely want to hear it before buying. Thanks! |

I bought the Performance Exhaust from Dan@United about two years and still get a kick out of how it sounds...especially when cruising through tunnels or under bridges.

It will likely never reach $725.00, I can almost guarantee that.

Agree w/Dan
This is 128 section, OP has a 128. Most people here know the 135 is more expensive b/c of the extra parts. Do you realize how important a reputation is?

Somehow people always wander into this section and post info that is only relevant to the 135i. I'll never understand it.

$665 shipped from Global Imports BMW in Atlanta. Saw it on Ebay with best offer. I emailed them for their lowest price before making an offer. I dont regret purchasing the BMW PE at all, sounds amazing. I emailed Dan at United first since he is on the forum and I would of preferred to purchase from him, but he couldnt match the price.

Global has since removed that price because there was a loss involved ($665.00 is a crazy good deal, but also below dealership cost!). Now it's back up to MSRP.

The one for your car has a small amount of pipe after the canister/muffler, and in order to mount it, the original muffler needs to be cut off from the car's pipe. |
