Why your VANOS bolts have not been fixed
BMW has no fear of NHTSA.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/15/bu...ts.html?src=me "An investigation by The New York Times into the agency’s handling of major safety defects over the past decade found that it frequently has been slow to identify problems, tentative to act and reluctant to employ its full legal powers against companies." http://www.thedailyjournal.com/story...pdog/15810047/ "GM withheld key information from regulators. It settled cases secretly, ignored actions by its own employees and left dangerous cars on the road for a decade. But when companies act so deplorably, safety watchdogs are needed most. Whether because of corruption, capture by the industry or just plain cluelessness, NHTSA failed." Did you know NHTSA hasn't ordered a recall in many years? They're all "voluntary". And, BMW has no fear of you suing them, either. Last edited by 128Convertibleguy; 09-19-2014 at 10:11 AM.. |

Your vanos bolts have not been replaced due to very limited parts quantity.. The campaign is open for the first batch of cars from 9/09-11/11 production. So if you take your car to the dealer, and they happen to have the parts, your car will get fixed.

To me I don't see how hard it is to make a bolt. If they can make millions upon millions of other things a day, I'm sure they can make the thousands of bolts they need to get these engines fixed.
I'd rather have my engine blow so BMW will have to pay $10k+ instead of a $1k or less just to replace something in the VANOS assembly. |
