^^^Yes! @BimmerJim
Go to Google Maps and put in: Kathi Bräu http://maps.google.de/maps?hl=de&rls...-8&sa=N&tab=wl I just drove from Kathi Bräu (North) on those wonderfull back roads until I hit the A70. Then I headed towards BA. The Autobahn driving: first video was on the A70 Autobahn coming from Bayreuth to Bamberg. Second video was on the A73 AUtobahn Bamberg going to Coburg direction. Both Autobahns have no speed limit there. The night video was coming back from Munich the other night on the A9 between Ingolstadt to Nuernberg/Feucht - also no speed limit there. Dackel |

How straight is it? I want to try and do a run and see how good this speed de-limiter is.

Hey Nick, I really would not drive faster than 155 mph on those autobahns. Those autobahns are just too bumpy. I know when you drive from Bamberg towards Bayreuth there is a spot where I see alot of cars leave the road and crash. Just because there is no speed limit doesn't mean its safe to drive that fast. The BEST place for you to attempt a V-max would be: The A9 just south of Nuernberg (Feucht) until Greding area (no speed limits). The autobahn there is three lanes wide and only goes up/down which is good for another 15-20 kph with most cars. Or you can continue Furth south on the other side of Ingolstadt going towards Munich. That is a really nice fast autobahn. But that first part just after Nuernberg is one of my favorite places to drive fast. Just do not tail gate bc the German polizei have caught me there a few times pushing cars out of the left lane! lol Or... North of HOF on the A9 before the A9 hits the A4. The autobahn is three lanes wide (all new!) but it is curvy. I hit 287 kph in my old Porsche 944 Turbo there. But then just before the A4 that autobahn turns to shit (two lanes and really old autobahn!) so be careful. Dackel |

As always nice vids Dackelone. I got the chance to take my 1er out on a back road excursion Sat when it was nice. Hit a really smooth loop out from Kusel to Baumholder then back, I feel you on burning the gas I killed a qrtr tank in a little over 40 miles. Then hit A62 closer to home and took it to the speedlimiter. Didn't notice the hood, I'll have to look another time, but it did get a bit bouncy above 140mph. But it did feel good.

V-Max driving....
I thought you might like to see what it is like to drive 274 kph (169 mph).... at NIGHT(!) on the Autobahn!! This was filmed last week on the A9 between Munich and Ingolstadt on my way back to Bamberg. Most of my "runs" were WOT in 6th gear (I have a 6MT).

283 kph in the day light is my personal best. But I know a few times I have hit 6,400 rpms in 6th. I think that is 287iish. I know the car has more in her. Its just hard to find an empty Autobahn at those speeds. I think ~293 kph is the real V-max. At least that is what I am told from the 1er forum.de guys.
My M3 digital speedo reads true vehicle speed. I have checked it with my GPS and its right on the money. Only trouble is when your driving that fast you can not look down and read it! It was kind of hard just holding the camera and driving! lol Note to self: duct tape my GoPro next time!

Great vids dacklone. The first two are my fav. Really reminds me of where I used to live in Germany even though it's nowhere close. I lived in st Leon rot right outside of Heidelberg about an hr from Karlsruhe and our town looked just like that surrounded by fields. And yes you are right after 130 it gets very noisy with the windows up I can remember in my little 320i I had there or my moms 535 if u put ur hand near the corner of the window when going that fast u could feel a small draft of air coming n lol. So glad I'll living back in Europe soon. Deff hav to visit there again

I'm ashamed to say I've never driven that fast in my 1er, because the roads are too short and full of traffic in this town.. cool vid tho reminds me when I was living in Australia

I know I am spoiled living over here. I really love this country. Germany really has the best damm roads and cars in the world. AND, its drivers ain't bad either! While Germany has some great roads.... Bavaria (where I live) has some of teh nicest and best taken care of Autobahns around! Its awesome living over here!

Driving on the A9 Autobahn between Nurnberg to Munich (169 kms) is one of my favorite stretches of Autobahn. Especially the section just South of Nurnberg. There is only one place near Greding where there is a speed limit of 120 kph. The rest is all "unlimited" Autobahn. I would be happy to show you guys around my part of Bavaria.

Thanks for the invite
Can you tell me a bit about your car? I noticed its LHD and has MPH...did you import it from the States? Is it completely stock or have you some work done to it? I know that the readout of the speedo tends to be not as accurate towards the end of the range. What is this M3 digital speedo you talk of? Love all the videos, makes me want to get a go-pro Let me know of any meets you guys are planning. I saw the thread you put together for Selvio Pass, looked like a great time. |

In most of these videos my car was totally stock. In that last night video (274 kph!) on the autobahn my car is tuned now. I only have a flash tune; 380 PS and 520Nm with 0.95 Bar of boost. More info on my tune here.... Got my car tuned in Germany… http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528152
