Texas all the way. Does the thumbdrive work like an Ipod on the steering wheel control?

There are several threads on it in the "Audio/Video/Electronics/Bluetooth/I-Drive/Alarm" subforum for this site discussing features, limitations, etc. e90post.com also has a few good threads including a listing of USB harddrives that are known to work with the option (in case you need up to a few hundred GB for music). |

USB Thumb Drive
In general the USB drive does work like an Ipod, except that it will not play Playlists and some of the more complicated functions of the Ipod. It will show the song titles and your tunes can be sorted by artist, genre, album, etc. much like an Ipod or Zune. I haven't received my car yet, so that is why I asked my friend to see if it would work and if it would play both mp3's and WMA's since most of my music is ripped in WMA format. There is a pretty good description of this function in the test of the 135 coupe on Edmunds.com, including pictures of it on the BMW radio. It also will display on the nav screen if you have that option on your car. My friend's 335 has the nav system. Hope this helps a bit.

San Antonio, originally from Detroit. Anytime I have gone into the showroom in San Antonio while getting a part for my MINI, I get a bad vibe from the staff (specifically the CAs). Not sure I want to buy in S.A., might look to Austin or Houston. Any good or bad experiences with S.A.? Any recommendations in Austin or Houston?

BMW of Austin is great. Several people on here have given it very high marks and after buying my car there I can't say enough nice things about both the dealership and my CA. If you're thinking of looking in Austin I would have to recommend the CA I worked with since he's sold multiple 1ers already and at least 2 have been to 1addicts members. I can PM his contact info if you're interested. |

They called me after work tonight on my way home and my car is finally here!!!! I will go fight the battle tomorrow to see if they will give me a half way decent deal on my current 330 ci. The initial discussions with them were less than encouraging regarding the trade in. The CA even told me I would be better off taking the trade somewhere else and selling it or privately selling it. As for converting the wma's to mp3 format, there is no need since the radio will play them just the way they are. Also, when you convert from one format to another, you lose some of the quality, no matter which format you convert to. The compression and then recompression throws out more data. My wma's are very high bit rate (variable), so I dont want to compromise the quality if I can avoid it.

Don't know how I missed this thread.
We live North Dallas and ordered through Moritz. My ride is currently aboard the Patriot and expected to hit SC October 4th. We've always had a super experience with MINI of Dallas, but I really clicked with John at Moritz. |

Coming from a MINI, I knew that I would give my business to either Moritz or BMW/MINI of Dallas. Both dealerships have been absolutely wonderful with contributions to metroplexmini.org. MINI of Dallas even hosts quarterly DIY days at the dealership for the club members. I know that Classic is a great dealership, too. However, I just wanted to give a little back to one of the dealerships that have really been generous to our "other car" group. See, what we need to do is get a big enthusiasts group together and get one of these dealerships to host some DIY days for us! Scotties for the win!! True "terror"iers. LOL!! |

Please post up on delivery and tell us all about it. The drive back from the dealership is always a great story.
We wouldn't be 135 enthusiasts without a little enthusiasm, now would we...?
