2013 135i DCT paddles not working

Recently purchased this 2013 135i, the paddles were not working. I took apart the steering wheel and checked all wiring, dissembled the paddles and the gold contacts were perfect and clean. All buttons and horn work, paddles are all oem.

I saw one or two posts on the M3 forums about a new clock spring fixing the issue. Before I order a new clock spring, does anyone else have anything else I can try?

Does you car have a JB4 installed on it? I would check the can wiring under the hood fuse panel

No jb4 installed unfortunately

Installed the new clock spring. Paddles are still not working!

Anyone have any ideas?

Looked at the steering wheel buttons and saw that there were no pins for the paddle shifters on the button board. Looks like the previous owner put in steering wheel buttons from a manual. Looks like a new set of steering wheel buttons will do the trick.

Does it have 335i paddles by chance?

The previous owner dipshit of my car replaced the 135i DCT paddles with 335i 6HP21 paddles. They didn't work either.

People are so weird... why would you replace steering wheel buttons with one's from a manual?

WHY would you replace the paddles with ones that don't work?!

Luckily it does still have the DCT paddles so I'm fine there. I'm picking up a full used DCT wheel later today, hopefully those have the correct buttons.

Yeah man... no idea

I'm glad I got it figured out but I wish I checked the pins before ordering a new heated steering clock spring from the dealer
